CCNA Security 640-554 Official Certification Guide + Livelessons Pck Har/CD Edition

The video lessons absolutely complemented the information in the book. I just passed my CCNA-Security and I know having the video training made that possible. There were areas I *thought* I understood from the text, but seeing the videos explain those points brought everything home.I also ordered the premium version, which includes two extra practice exams. Money well spent, and buying this book gives a 70% discount.Best way to prepare for the test, though, means you need access to the routers, switches, and ASA. Cisco Packet Tracer can get you the switches, but you'll need an emulator like GNS3 in order to practice the ASA and CCP stuff. Let me emphasize that: Get GNS3! With it, you'll be able to "click along" with the book as it goes through configurations. The book stresses that there is a significant portion of the test that involves one's ability to use CCP. That ain't no lie. You can't memorize screen shots very well, but you can get a feel for the product if you have the book in one hand and a mouse to click on the CCP in the other.This book with the video lessons, the premium version, and access to emulators all made up a successful study package for me. I did not need actual hardware in my hands, but I did need all of the above elements to make it happen. Get this book, roll up your sleeves, and study hard. You can pass the CCNA-Security and this book is part of that plan.

This book is not for a non experienced network person. You should have a basic understanding of how a network works and familiarity with Cisco equipment and methodology. With that being said, this book is clear and concise. It covers all of the topics covered on the 640-554. This product was all I used to pass the Cisco 640-554. Keith Barker's video series was a nice compliment to the book. I do wish the videos had a bit more depth to them but Mr. Barker's enthusiasm made up for that. I wouldn't have though id be so excited to harden a network. Use this material and playing around with CCP via GNS3 or real equipment. Trust me, it would make the simulations a bit easier.

I love the book and the authors...it will help me pass the exam, no doubt!!1 suggestion....the book could be more concise...there are times where it will talk about info but then doesnt go into detail until much later....this is not a complaint, but more of a term paper correction type suggestion....keith barker is THE MAN so again im confident i will pass the exam on the first try.i highly recommended this book

This is a good text that covers all the major topics. The organization is very good and the examples help with concepts. However, at times, the wording could be improved with more edition. This is compensated by the companion video. Mr. Barker does an excellent job with the topics in the video (the video represents at least two of the four stars), but not all topics are covered. More video please!

The book is top quality, not only the glossy hard cover and design but also the contents. Keith is the best trainer on the Internet and the DVD is something everyone that can make studying a great pleasure. This is the best Cisco book ever! The CBT Nuggets Security videos are also highly recommended but you will have to find them elsewhere.

Just the right book. Enough material to pass the CCNA exam without getting bogged down in myriad of configuration options and implementation details . Videos are helpful brief and up to the point. Helps a student remember the configuration menus that you did in class without having to go through the lab again.

The book is a good reference but you will need more to pass the exam! The video was worthless but Keith Barker's nuggets that you pay for on his website are great.

Great resource for preparation to test for the Cisco associate security exam. Organization and composition of this literature is also enticing and thus make reading the material addictive.

Buona documentazione, a volte ripetitiva nei concetti ma rispetta la policy di Cisco. Non lo ritengo sufficiente per sostenere l'esame di certificazione, manca la parte pratica. Buoni i video, il docente parla un inglese comprensibile anche per scarsi come me!

The book contents are excellent. However, the videos contain less practicals, for you can always go for CBT Nuggets.
