Retroflag Classic Wired USB Gaming Controller Support XINPUT, DINPUT Mode and Turbo Function Compatible with Raspberry Pi, Windows, Switch

The iBuffalo classic has been my go-to gamepad for SNES games for years now. They are solid, well-built, have a nice feel to the buttons and d-pad, and work well with most games and emulators. I came across this guy, and when I saw the concave Y+X buttons, font, and colors like the OG NA SNES controller I grew up with, I knew it had to be mine.This is a great controller. The buttons and d-pad are solid, it has a good weight and material feel, and the looks are spot on. Besides that, it has both xinput and dinput modes and is automatically recognized and mapped correctly in more games and emulators than the iBuffalo (and the layout is a little more intuitive than say the Retrobit Genesis controllers which also support xinput and dinput). Is it better? That depends. the iBuffalo's buttons have a much lighter press, almost too light (I've had them for years though, maybe they are just broken-in?). But, for my little arthritis hands, I do find it somewhat more comfortable for longer play sessions. But, the retroflag's buttons do feel a little more solid and direct (dare I say more accurate to the original), but they do require a little more force to actuate. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either controller. If you want a bit lighter touch, the iBuffalo may be the better option. But, if you want incredible out-of-the-box plug-n-play game compatibility, the aesthetics of the North American SNES controller, and a bit heavier press, you can't go wrong with the Retroflag.

The 8Bitdo and the Retroflag feels about the same and is tighter in it's range and stiffer. The buttons on the Retroflag and 8Bitdo feel more solid while the iBuffalo feels a bit more hollow.Picking among these controllers is down to preference and you'll have to determine for yourself which aspects are more important to you. If you want more buttons for a Raspberry Pi setup (so you can play PSX games without swapping controllers), then the 8Bitdo is an excellent choice.

I can't emphasize it enough, but this controller from Retroflag is the best and most comfortable I've tried yet. I've bought many third party controllers before and a lot of them are subpar to practically worthless, but this is by far the closest I've felt compared to a real SNES controller. The weight is perfect, the d-pad is perfectly textured with the proper beveled edges, and the buttons push exactly the way that they're designed to push. I will admit that the face buttons sound a tad bit clicky when pressed, but I'm not that peeved by it. They're comfortable to press, and that's really all that matters to me.This is the end-all third party USB SNES controller to pick up, and it's great for the RetroPie. Forget those iBuffalos, I used to think they were the best.. but this conquers the iBuffalo.PS: If anyone was curious, the controller is read as a Microsoft XBOX 360 controller when plugged into the RetroPie.

As the title of this review may suggest, I got this controller to play kaizo mario romhacks. It did not go well. I wasn't used to the D-pad controls, and I suck at mario games to begin with. Tried it with some other games and it worked great. Setup and button mapping was pretty easy, too.

Original console hardware is best, but this controller is a close second. I use it for MiSTer and RetroPie. Controls have a good feel and response time is fantastic. The only con I have with this controller is that the D-pad sometimes does unintentional diagonals. I hear it's easy enough to solve with some tape but I haven't tested this out yet. Nonetheless, a worthy addition to retro gaming setups.

The controller itself is extremely close to the original. It has a good weight and the feel is top notch.However the D-pad is overly sensitive and will get you killed in game with inputs you're not pressing.This is especially bad with UP/DOWN when pressing LEFT/RIGHT.Eventually your controller will stop working. The USB will connect and reconnect in a loop. This is NOT the controller.It is the cord.And it is NOT the connection inside the controller (like from tugging). It is the ACTUAL cord that fails.DO NOT WRAP YOUR CORD AROUND THE CONTROLLER WHEN YOU'RE NOT USING IT -- THIS WILL EXPEDITE CORD FAILURE (from wire crimping, I'm assuming)It's too bad the D-pad sucks, this is a great controller otherwise (while it works)

When setting up a retro gaming system our family went through a lot of controllers before finding Retroflag. This company makes good controllers to use with a Recalbox game system.

I was looking for something really close to the original. Didn't want those modern bluetooth controllers because they're kinda bulky and heavy.This hits the spot for that SNES retro gaming itch. Works well with Mac too! Great buy!

Instructions for making this work with Nintendo Switch:1 - Go to Settings, Controllers and Sensors, Pro Controller Wired Communication = On2 - Plug controller in to dock3 - Change grip/order of controllersThis still didn't work for me, so then I had to do a 'proper' restart:4 - Hold down console power button for several seconds and choose restart.The controller itself is very well made, with a good feel to the buttons and D-Pad (I always used to avoid 3rd party controllers back in the day as they tended to be poor quality, but this feels as good as a genuine one).

Enfin une manette SNES USB de qualité.Rien à dire, le plastique est top au toucher, le poids est bon, les boutons au top, rien à redire.2x à 3x plus chère que les autres manettes SNES que j'ai eu avant, mais j'ai jeté les autres dès que j'ai eu celle la dans les mains.A acheter les yeux fermés.
