Q: What size is the output barb? Can the barb be removed and if so what is the size/taper on the threads?

The output is 1/4" MPT. I know this because I removed the original barbed connector and replaced it with a 1/4" MPT to 1/4" MFL adapter. The stock output barb is affixed quite strongly -- I needed a 12" wrench to get it out. If you are asking because you want to replace the barb with an MFL output, note that the vendor sells an MFL version of this same product. I should have bought that in the first place, but if you find yourself in my situation, now you know the output is 1/4" MPT.

I had to remove the barb and use off my broken regulator because it was too small.

The threads are right hand. After two failed regulators I purchased a CO2 welding regulator.
