Sparks Imaginative Play
I've had my eye on this castle for a while, but was waiting until my son was old enough before we purchased it. At 4, he's still on the young end for it, but I think this is a toy he will be able to play with at different levels for several years. The castle does take some time to assemble. It took my husband and I about two-and-a-half hours to finish completely putting it together. Plan ahead if this will be a Christmas or birthday gift and your child will want to play with it right out of the box.The castle is a nice size and children can easily play from any side of the castle. We had three children easily playing around it. We also had an 18 month old attempting to sit in the middle of it, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend that unless you're playing "Giant who destroys the castle." Thankfully it snaps back together pretty easily. I put up some of the smaller pieces until the baby is older and I'm less concerned about her choking or swallowing them. There are tons of great features to this castle. My son really likes the breakthrough walls and the elevator. And what's not to like about dropping rocks on enemy invaders? The only thing I didn't like is that the cannon is very difficult to fire. It takes a good deal of pressure and my son can't do it without help. The mechanism on the cannon that came with the Playmobil Knights Take Along Tower is much easier to operate. I wish the one with this castle had a similar design. It is expensive, but I think it's going to prove to be worth the investment. I'd recommend it if you have a little boy interested in castles and imaginative play.

Great castle if you can afford it
So many details, accessories. It's a lot of fun to play, even for the parents! Our 4-year old son got this for Xmas and it was definitely a hit. We all played with it for hours during the winter break.Pros:- Good quality- Big, with lots of secret rooms, etc.- A good opportunity to educate the kids about castles and their defense mechanisms- lots of hours of play- leaves room to imagination- parents can enjoy it tooCons:- it's expensive!- took somewhat a long time to assemble.

one word.. NIGHTMARE! DOES not FIT together!
We saw this set in person at the Playmobil park in Germany. lovvved it! Couldn't wait to get it for our son. Problem is putting it together. ALL pieces were accounted for.. every single damn piece. Yet the damn thing will not connect.. there is a open spot where we can not push the castle together to close the loop, (there is a gap in between the wall and gate.. so the courtyard is not fully enclosed. And if we force it to close it pops out on the other side leaving the same empty open spot.. I INCLUDED PICTURES in the comment section for this review and in the customer images on the main page http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B003AQBWCG/ref=cm_cmu_up_thanks_hdr).. we had to add a wall piece from the extension set, (sold separately) to get the castle to fit together in one piece. I will give it credit for being amazingly cool in appearance and it is HUGE. BUT building it and finding out even though we put it together as stated it didn't fit.. I don't understand why no one else is having this problem. It's the oddest and most aggravating thing. We accounted all the pieces.. checked the design about a million times making sure every piece was there.. We even took it apart and rebuilt it FOUR TIMES and still no cigar. No missing pieces, yet the damn thing acts like it is missing a piece, (since adding a wall piece from a separate extension set makes it fit like a glove). Excuse me I want to go pull my hair out now!

Castle
We started with playmobile figures because they were cheap. After a while my son had created a "castle" out of Lego for his Playmobile medieval guys to play in. He played with it so much that I caved in and bought the big castle. He plays with it constantly. It's got trap doors, secret passages, treasure, portcullis everything. Takes an hour to put together. May need to be glued here and there depending on how boisterous your child is. A ton of fun. Not cheap but hey. They're only young once.

Best castle ever!
My son received this castle for Christmas last year. He loves Playmobil and had been wanting a castle for quite a while. My husband and I had a great time assembling it together, it was a lot of pieces and took a couple hours but it was fun because all the fun parts and accessories. It's 6 months later and it's still played with daily and my son wants another Playmobil castle this year for Christmas to have an "enemy". We don't mind spending the money because of the amount of time he spends creating different scenarios with the figures...uses lots of imagination! This is a large castle and takes up some space but well worth it.

Great Toy - my son loves this
My son loves this set. So much to do. It is really complete in it's self, nothing really more to buy. It is a little large, and it does take some time to assemble. I would also not recommend if you have very small children in the house, mostly since it will come a part if handled rough. I have only needed to put back together once. Almost a year since my son got this for his birthday and he plays with 3-5 times a week still. Highly recommended.

Get something else.
What a massively overpriced toy this is. And it came with missing parts. Badly designed, the wall keeps falling apart but it's too hard for 5 yr olds to put it together so I hear, can you fix this, can you fix this... Got bored quickly too.
