Product description A great fun tin plate clockwork robot taking its design from H G Wells' War of the Worlds. It 'walks' by moving the two tin central legs which makes it lean to and fro moving the plastic coated four legs. Approximately 24cms high. Comes in a pleasing retro style box. martian machine, "not a toy" apparently
My son (5 years old), loves war of the worlds. From Jeff wayne's musical versions to the films and computer games. So he asked santa for a tripod. This may be martian but in no way is it a tripod (more like a hex-pod) and as such isn't from war of the worlds. My son WILL notice this come xmas but i'm hoping he won't care.Saying that though, other than a £70 "airfix" style model (which definitely isn't a toy) from the tom cruise version this is the closest you can get so i thought "worth a punt".The statement that it's for 15+ only and that it is "not a toy" is a joke. Rest assured my son will play with it and use it, as a toy. I've checked it over and can see no reason for such a stupid age to be put on it.If some collector geek cries that it's gonna be played with then they might not like to know about when i got an original 80's ghostbusters proton pack (in box) for my son and promptly threw the box out :-)
