Very cute book. In my case I read to my rescue terrier at bedtime😁

My favorite book for adoption
Beautiful book! My daughters still talk about it even though they are 30 something.

Adoptive parents loved it!
My friends recently adopted a baby and they loved this book! Highly recommend. It's paperback. Colorful. Sweet. A great keepsake.

Reassuring
This book is based on a beautiful song (printed with the music in the back of the book) that the author wrote for a friend. It doesn't address the "issue" of adoption as much as talking about how this family comes together and how the paths of their lives lead them together. (rather fate-based?) It also speaks to the diversity of many families ("No matter single or pairs. . .No matter the skin, we are all of us kin. . .") and, albeit briefly and generally, is very reassuring that families are made up in many different ways. The song is very nice and my daughter enjoys me singing it at the end of the book. Through the pictures, you can point out that one child has two mother's, or two children have just a father, and that one child has different eyes or skin from his parents. My husband and I love this book, but if you are ultra-conservative (one would hope any adoptive parent wouldn't be), it won't be for you. It is a great lesson in diversity!

Wonderful
I love the message of this book! It celebrates Adoption Day sometimes called Gotcha day as the day this family was born and I think that is a cool concept no matter when you're celebrating, if it is soon after a child is born, after placement or when the adoption in finalized. It is a celebration of all family types with a focus on the kind that the child reading the book has. LOVE it.

A great gift for any kid!
I came across this book at a retail store a couple years ago and immediately purchased 3 of them. I buy a couple of them every few years and give them to my friends children on random days. When the child gives me a confused look or asks me what it is, I give a shocked look at their parents and gasp "Oh my god! I thought you told them!" and quickly snatch it away.To date I've only lost one friend to this, but they were kind of humorless doofuses anyways. I highly recommend it.

Cute adoption song
This book illustrates a "happy adoption day" song. The illustrations are wonderful! I'm an adoption social worker and do adoptions for kids in foster care, so it doesn't exactly lend itself to adopting from foster care, but it is a cute book. I could see using this to celebrate a child's annual adoption anniversary, or using it to open a conversation about where the child was born and what their adoption story is. I would recommend this book for ages 0-10.

Perfect for ALL forms of Adoption!
This book is Amazing! I started reading this book to my kids about a week before we finalized their adoption. It got them excited about their story and about their Adoption day. They also took it to preschool to share with the other kids about their Adoption day. It's one of the few adoption books that don't mention God or Religion. It's also all encompassing so whether your child was adopted from foster care, DIA, or International adoption, the book applies. and it makes the kids feel special (because they are!)

My kids have mixed feelings about their gotcha day because they loved their former foster family and sometimes adoption day isn’t ...
Cute story and song. Be aware of your child’s feelings though. My kids have mixed feelings about their gotcha day because they loved their former foster family and sometimes adoption day isn’t always happy.
