Like.... WOW!
I wanted to get the 100, or 150 Watt light, but my current fixture couldn't house a corn light of that size. I got a call from Nick at Everwatt, and we spoke for quite a while on the phone. Great guy, very bright, working with the company with great service.Reluctantly, I ended up purchasing the 35 W unit, their smallest one. This replaced 175 W gaslight high up on my garage over my driveway. I have 5 acres so I wanted to get something with extra light. Once installed, at night, we were blown away. I could not believe how much brighter this ever watt unit was. I am well acquainted with LED output, but I'm still impressed with how much light is 35 unit throws. I went up on the roof the next day and cleaned the light sensor lens, that was causing the unit to go on and off during the day, and re-configuring it so it face toward the sun, and now, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I'm glad I didn't get the more powerful one. But I will be buying more lights for different areas of my property from Everwatt. Extremely satisfied. One Last note: I wish either Everwatt and/or Amazon had direct links for fixtures for these units. It's been a bitch trying to find one, (regardless of the Search Engine I tried.) I will buy more corn lights once I find the appropriate fixtures.Bob R.

Replacing our 300w incandescent lamps with these will give us a bit more light with a better color and at just a 5th of the ener
We've tried several LED lamps as upgrade/replacements for our 300w incandescent warehouse lights. Finally we've found one that lives up to its brightness claims! Others advertise over 8000 lumens, but aren't as bright as this one advertised at 6900. The 4000K color temp is just what we were looking for (not too blue). Replacing our 300w incandescent lamps with these will give us a bit more light with a better color and at just a 5th of the energy we were using. Observing the shadows created when standing between one fixture with the new LED and one with the old incandescent shows the difference in light output and color (see photos attached).

Excellent Replacement for Metal-Halide Bulb But Expensive
This bulb just fits into our 20 year old Cooper Electric light fixture that is mounted in the ground and is used to light up the front of our house. When the fixture was initially installed, the installer failed to seal off the connecting conduit from the ground. Hence, red ants built a huge filthy nest inside the fixture. This consisted of packed red dirt and moisture. This eventually cased the ballast and/or transformer to fail.I could have replaced the ballast (and probably the transformer) for a little less money than the cost of this LED bulb. But I figured that while I was working on the light fixture, I may as well upgrade it to LED. Re-wiring this is extremely easy: just cut off all wires attached to the transformer and ballast. Then reconnect the incoming line wires directly to the mogul socket base. The bulb does not need any external ballast or transformer. It runs directly off house current (130V in our case). This size bulb just barely fits within the enclosure. I thought about getting the 100-W model but I'm glad I didn't, as it would not have fit unless I severely modified the enclosure. Therefore, the light output (in lumens) is slightly less than the rated output of the bulb (Philips MH175/U it replaced. But I can't tell any difference when it is turned on (compared to another yard light we have that still uses the original bulb). The light color (4000K is a bit warmer than I imagined but not bad. I went with the 4000K model because that is the rated light color output of our original metal-halide bulb. But when they are both on together, this one looks just a bit warmer than the metal-halide bulb. But that's a good thing because I always felt that the original bulb was a bit too cool (bluer) than it needed to be for Illuminating the exterior walls of our house.Like other LED bulbs, this one turns on at full brightness nearly instantly. It uses only 80W of power, compared to 175W of the original bulb, while giving off similar light intensity. That's a big money saver in terms of power consumption if you plan on leaving these lights turned on a lot of the time.I'm taking one star off (giving it four stars) just because it is a bit pricey. A replacement metal-halide bulb is only about $13. This one runs about $92. If you don't mind the price, go for this bulb. There is another similar bulb that is less expensive and works about as well at http://a.co/6913NJ6. I bought one and installed it in our other yard light. I'm very happy with it and it is sells for about $59.

Good LED Alternative to Metal Halide bulbs
A very bright LED alternative to Microsun's 68W metal halide bulb. It uses 8 watts less electricity yet produces 6,900 lumens instead of the 6,000 from the metal halide. It's also rated to last over 20 years whereas the Microsun bulbs generally last around 5. The LED does cost about 80% more to purchase, but since it lasts over four times longer it's actually a money saver. Another consideration is that metal halide bulbs must be inserted into a special ballast / gear pack that regulates the bulb's current. These cost in excess of $100.- and last about 10 years. The LED doesn't need this since it's entirely self contained. During the course of 22 or so years one will need to buy 2 gear backs ($200.-) and at least 4 metal halide bulbs ($150.-) for a total cost of $350.-. With the LED version one just spends $68.-. Factor in the 8 watts of less power used during operation and the savings is considerable. Another plus for the LED is the light is instantly at full brightness when switched on. No waiting like one must do with metal halides. The only downside to the LED version is that it's very big. Much bigger than the Microsun metal halide. When used in a lamp (like mine) a 14" harp is needed to accommodate the bulb. One may have to purchase a taller lampshade to compensate for the added height. Another point is the LED makes a slight whooshing sound while operating. I assume this has something to do with heat dissipation. It's essentially white noise one has to adapt to.

Almost as good as the MH it replaced
I ordered this 600W size bulb to replace a 400W MH bulb and ballast set up because the lumen output listed was closer to the MH bulb. We had to modify the base holder to allow for the taller height that this bulb has in order to fit it inside our light fixture. This 600W equivalent LED bulb is close to the old 400W MH in terms of real output but would certainly fall short of replacing an actual 600W MH bulb. This has been my experience when converting any of these outdoor road light fixtures. If you can fit it inside your fixture, always go up one size in terms of wattage rating as they seem to fudge that or better, always look for lumen output and Kelvin scale for all LED bulbs.

Not enough bright compares to 400w mh. It’s ll save a lots more then 400w but just brightness little darker. First pic where the car sit at is led side, and far one is 400w mh.I think seller lies on descriptions. 23000lm? I don’t think so.. maybe bit lesser then 20k lm. usually 400w mh have 20k lm. Just extremely fast 2days shippings saved you.. so 3 stars.

It's working great.
Replaced an outdoor 175 W metal halide bulb (ballast died). Brighter than the metal halide and using 1/5 the power. I did have to replace the day/night photo sensor to one that was compatible with Led bulbs (I think it was about $15 from home depot). Bulb seems to be built solid with lots of heat sinks anyway been working fine for several weeks now and not bothered by the cold as we are getting down to -20° C.

Bright and quiet
I put 6 of these in my 34 x 44 shop. I had 400w HPS lights and just removed each ballast and kept the socket. It is now much brighter and the white is very close to daylight. Other LEDs I tested were a bit blue and some light seemed to get lost. Once I tried this one I ordered 5 more to replace all 6 HPS lights. No more ballast hum... and instant on.

Great product, until after the purchase of four
Great product, until after the purchase of four, the price went up way too high! Unfortunately we were testing this product out and if they functioned well, we would buy many more, but not at the current price increase. Too bad, because we thought we had found a winner.....
