Best Waffle maker ever.
I don't write reviews enough, but I really like this waffle maker and thought I should pass on my experience. First of all, this is not my first Presto FlipSide waffle maker. I purchased an earlier model possibly 5-7 years ago? ( I really can't remember when I bought it, but it was at least 5 years ago, maybe more.) I used it every day. I mean, every single day!I did not make traditional waffles, but became enamored with the website "Will It Waffle," which is now a book. My 1st FlipSide did not have ceramic plates, but the old-fashioned Teflon coated ones. I used nonstick spray on it because many times, I "waffled" things that did not have oil. I hate to cook, so this device was perfect. I don't have to futz with a temperature control, and could fix single servings because of the fact that I am always dieting and my husband is not interested in my diet food. One of my favorite items I have for lunch almost every day is a grilled cheese sandwich made with low calorie bread, sliced low fat cheese and sprayed with non fat butter. I love the crisp waffle indentations. Enough about food! That waffle iron finally died. I kept it upright on my counter because of its daily use and loved the fact that it was so compact.Of course, I had to replace the waffle iron and I considered all the other choices on Amazon. They were all so bulky and I don't have that much room in my kitchen. I had used my sister-in-law's (when visiting her) rotating waffle iron, big and bulky (of which there are many available) and I didn't know where I would store such a behemoth. Also, her waffle iron had an automatic off switch based on waffles only. Some things I make, need to be cooked longer than a regular waffle, so I would either find my items cold, because the timer shut off the heat or I would have to jiggle the knob and keep turning it on. What a waste of time and attention! With the FlipSide, the heat is on when it is plugged in and off when you pull out the plug.I admit that one of my fears was forgetting to pull out the plug and consequently leaving the FlipSide on to do some kind of damage. Since I don't like to hover in the kitchen, I set my kitchen stove timer for time needed (the rest of the stove is practically unused) and when the timer goes off, it is my signal to unplug the FlipSide. So far, that has been a good system.I ordered this refurbished item because the new one was not in stock when I wanted it. However, Amazon had this refurbished one available immediately. Was there really a choice? I saved a few dollars and this FlipSide seems to work as well as a new one. I was immediately stuck with the fact that this one is heavier than my old one. It must be the ceramic plates. Also, the handle seems bigger and sturdier. (I frequently have to use something to protect my hands because I have to push down on my cooking item so it "waffles" the heat.)I am still experimenting with the nonstick ceramic plates. They don't seem to stick, but since I cook things like whipped egg whites, no fat, the sticking can be a challenge. One spot did stick, but easily brushed off. I have used cooking spray, but it essentially beads up on the ceramic plates and does not distribute evenly. Overall, it is as issue of getting used to the new ceramic plates. Other than that, this waffle iron performs as consistently as my old one. I recommend it highly. For just waffles, you can't go wrong.

Nice, deep waffles; slim, upright storage; no issues.
I bought this as a repaired item. It was shipped in its original box and then inside an Amazon box. The original box was a little beat-up and the manual in the box was crumpled, but the waffle iron was unmarked and has functioned flawlessly. It makes nice, thick waffles and I do enjoy the upright storage - I’ve been very careful with the plastic piece that locks it in the upright position after reading other reviews that spoke to it breaking. I can definitely see how that would happen. Aside from that piece, it seems well-made but still isn’t heavy to move around. It does flip 180 degrees - after putting the batter in and closing the lid, you can rotate it over the base so that the bottom side is now the top. It’s been used several times and we did have to start using non-stick sorry after the first 2 or 3 times, but that seems very minor and is definitely not a complaint. Just for fun, I found a very fun recipe for a more savory waffle that makes a great base for refried beans, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa. 1 6 oz corn muffin mix, 1/2 cup of water, 1 can creamed corn. Mix well and it makes just over 2 waffles in this waffle iron.

Received clean one.
After reading other reviews, I purchased refurbished one.Luckily, I've received a clean and working unit. It looked like a new product, except the box.I'm happy with my waffle maker.FYI, it doesn't have on/off switch.

Makes great waffles, nothing sticks to this!
Just received the “renewed” version. I was a bit nervous about what I would receive, based on previous reviews. The box had clearly been opened previously, but all contents and packing materials were present and in good shape, including the instructions. The waffle maker worked great! No oils or non-stick sprays were needed, and I was able to easily lift the waffles out with a fork. No mess and super easy to clean up afterwards because absolutely nothing stuck to the grids. I tried cooking times between 3-3.5 minutes, and decided that 3.5 minutes was perfect. I used a gluten-free buttermilk pancake mix that I purchased at Trader Joe’s. I doubled the recipe, which made 2.5 large waffles (10 quarters). I was able to store the waffle maker standing up in a corner cabinet, but the red plastic piece to hold it upright is flimsy, and I anticipate that it will break in the future if not treated with care, so I warned my hubby, who is like an elephant crashing through the kitchen. All in all, I am very satisfied with this waffle maker!

Gross and a little disturbing...
The product itself seems fine. The disturbing part is that the thing still has flour, and batter smudged fingerprints on it from whoever's returned the item previously. Find that a bit gross and lazy on the part of the amazon.

Very impressed!!
I had a waffle maker that just never seemed to work all that well; the waffles would stick like glue and never seemed to be brown enough. I was hesitant to buy a new one because I was afraid to waste my money again. I am so glad I decided to get this model- it works perfectly! The waffles are nice and thick and this waffle maker is very easy to use.

Brand new condition
I was concerned reading the reviews but I'm so happy I ended up getting a refurbished waffle iron vs a new one. This came just like new and has worked great! Always get a perfect waffle with this thing. Try using cake batter and muffin mix for a delicious twist.
