Works great and lasts a long time
I have used this clay a handful of times a month and it's drastically improved how my hair looks. My hair is thick, so it's usually unruly to get under control after a shower or to go out. This fixed my problems. You don't have to use much either! I still have the same container from a year ago.

Good hold and great smell; not a clay
The product scoops out and breaks down well enough. The smell is nice and not too powerful. My only problem is that it's not really a "clay". It doesn't hold any clay ingredients, and the finish is more of a natural to low shine rather than matte. With that said, it does hold my hair well and it's worth the price.

Great hair product!
Been using this Layrite product for years now. Definitely gives the Matte finish look and doesn't make the hair rock hard which I prefer. Highly recommend!

This one is it. Don’t experiment. I already did that for you
You won’t find a better product for stubborn thick hair. A little goes a LONG way. I’ve tried everything out there and does not compare. Spend the extra little bit and don’t cheap out on your hair product. It outlast bigger cans of other brands.

Didn't work for me. Looked more greasy than matte.
I have a good volume of hair, but the texture of the strands is pretty fine. For years I've used Erratic clay by ICE/Joico, and it held my short, fairly straight hair in the sort of messy, slightly spiky style I like without overly weighing it down. Sadly, it was discontinued, so I thought I'd try this product. At first it seemed promising, as it was nearly as tacky on my hands as the old clay. Unfortunately, it had a lot less hold, and when I added a bit more to try to get some shape, it ended up making my hair look weighted down and kind of greasy. Maybe it would work better for someone with thicker hair with more curl trying to do something like a pompadour, but it didn't work for me applied on either wet or dry hair. YMMV. The scent was pretty nice, although it got a bit cloying after a bit. I'll be looking for a drier formula with no petrolatum.** EDIT: I found the trick for me was to mix a little bit of this with a dry hair volumizing powder. I can now use it, but again, it all depends on your hair type. **

Yes worth the price
I was hesitant to spend the 20+ dollars on the 4.25oz version so I tried the smaller 1.5oz for less out of pocket to try it. In short I love this product! I have 2-3 inch hair and a little goes a long way for me, it goes on nicely has a nice vanilla smell, doesn’t feel real greasy or waxy, it has above average hold and rinses out pretty well without soap. I have considered this product several times over the years but the price kept me away but now I wish I had tried it sooner, because it out performs a lot of the budget-upper budget options and is worth the price.
