It does cut real nice though and the ratcheting system works good
I asked the question of 1.5" or 2.0" for the cutter and upon receiving my lopper,I measured it and it is 2" at the opening. However I was told you wont be cutting much thick hardwood with this and they are right.I haved used it on silver maples, white pines and pin oaks. You have to make sure the long silver bar doesnt get up against another branch or twig because it keeps you from ratcheting and making the cut and I nearly ( unintentionally ) left it up in the tree as I was halfway through the cut and got it wedged. It does cut real nice though and the ratcheting system works good.I would also like to mention that when I had the pole extendedcompletely and trying to cut it is very top heavy.Im 6'1" and 250 and after using this for awhile it does make you tired from the weight at the top even though it weighes maybe 4-lbs.Try to keep the pole vertical and its alot easier. One more thing.......with the pole extended completely and pulling on the rope tends to make pole bend since your losing the rigidity of having the pole sections inside each other.

Not heavy duty, but works well!
8-year update:Still going strong. Occasionally used, but very useful. It's helpful to lubricate the pivot points of everything on the lopper, so that the jaw springs back open. Occasionally it gets stuck in a bit - a good sharp upward push will free it. I've had to replace the rope once, no big deal. It's just super handy when you need to lop something high up.-----------------The lopper seems to be well made. I've been using consumer-level loppers and saws and finally upgraded to the Hayauchi, which is fantastic. With a 21 foot reach, it was begging for this lopper head. Together, they do make a pretty heavy combo - I quickly learned to keep the pole as upright as possible. It cuts with a minimal effort, however, it does take a fair amount of rope pull to accomplish it (when cutting thin branches). It's a good trade-off, my old lopper required a lot of effort having only a single pulley. It's clear this is an aftermarket product for the Silky pole. The attachment is a clumsy two bolts with lockwashers and nuts and doesn't use Silky's excellent mounting (as used for the saw blade). The hardware appears to be of high quality but I worry about deforming the pole top by tightening them too tightly. I plan to replace the nuts with nylock nuts so they won't loosen and I won't have to tighten them to engage the lockwashers. All in all a very good addition to the Silky Hayauchi.

Great Tool!
Have used a homemade PVC version of this for years before it finally broke. This new one does the job and does it well. It is definitely worth the price. It is both sturdy and well made. I did buy the attachment so I can both saw and cut. Just an FYI: I am a 6' tall woman, so handling it hasn't been a problem for me. However, because it is metal, it is heavier, and its length can make it difficult to handle. So, I think this tool in its extended position may be problematic for shorter, smaller or older women.

Sticks Shut
The blade worked fine for about 20 cuts. Now when I use it, it sticks shut. Not a good thing when it's 20 feet up or out on the bank and stuck in a branch. It is not worth anything. Will send it back.

Great Lopper, DOES NOT FIT Hayate Pole Saw
This is a high quality Pole Lopper. It has a rachet mechanism that allows easy cutting of thicker branches. I recommend this lopper.I wanted to weigh in on the question whether this Sintung Lopper fits a Hayate pole saw since I have a Silky 371-42 HAYATE Telescoping Pole Saw and purchased the Sintung 50 lopper head for Hayauchi Pole Saw as a result of the answers to this question. These comments are my opinion only. Maybe others have expert skills compared to mine. With that said my answer is NO. They are two different sizes. It is not designed to fit. Check with Silky if you doubt me. There is a reason it says "for Hayauchi Pole Saw". I tried prying the Sintung 50 as wide open as I could. Then wedged the pole in. It was barely functional, but not a good tight fit and would have come off after a few cuts.As a result I took a different approach. I bought a replacement Blade Fixing Pipe for Silky's HAYATE Pole Saw Item 370-00-91 ($23) along with the screws Blade Fixing BOLT set for Hayate 20' Silky Item 370-39-51.On the Lopper I cut off the two bolts that held the cutter part to the pole part. Then I slightly pried the Blade Fixing pipe apart so the the Lopper pole part would fit, I drilled 1 new hole on the Sintung. I also cut off the pully from Sintung and welded it to the Blasé Fixing pipe. It fits perfectly and is easy to swap out with the Hayate cutting blade.

Disappointed
I have been thinking of getting this for a long time and finally did. First use and it worked great! A little awkward with the rope pull, but cut well. Also, Sadly it does not fit the Silky pole with the quick clip on and screw tab that come with the pole and saw. One would think that it would since it is meant to work with this pole? So it takes a few minutes to deal with the tiny screws that come with it. So that’s a bit annoying, but I can live with it.The second time trimming... the thing keeps jamming after every cut, the spring does not bounce back to close, it stays open... I need to bring down the pole and push the mechanism with my hand to make it close again. This is not acceptable. While it works... it is not convenient and is difficult to use and I can see it breaking soon... Bit disappointed. Had to change my rating and pull a star.

This pruner just works
This pruner just works. It cuts two inch branches better than expected. The only drawback is it doesn’t work in tight spaces as the blade lever makes a 10” arc thru about 70 degrees.

Very good lopper, if it fits
The lopper fit on my Silky Hayauchi, but it was tight and bolt holes were aligned, but only marginally.Cut quality and capacity was very good.Makes the whole unit heavy.
