Great, Just Great! Merrill Womens Siren Edge Hiker shoes were better than I had hoped
I have flat feet and bunions. We planned a vacation to several National Parks where we wanted to hike. My feet often hurt from shoes that have too small of a toe box, too much arch support or not enough. I read the reviews for these shoes and ordered the Merrill Women’s Siren Edge Hiker. These shoes gave my feet great support, never slipped on rocks and never hurt. The toe box was wide enough to not hurt my bunions. The shoes were not heavy or bulky. We hiked for many miles and these shoes never caused me pain. I wore them even when not hiking. Even when roots and rocks were on the trail, these shoes supported my feet. They didn’t slip or roll. I am very impressed with the shoes and recommend them for hiking or if you are on your feet for long periods of time. Great support, comfortable and stylish. Great shoes.

Well Made & Comfy Too!
Merrell products do not lack in quality or comfort. I've had a different pair for years whuch have been the best all-around walking, hiking, every-day shoe. Now that I need to replace my current pair, I've tried 2 different Merrell models which both ran about a 1/2 size too big - Tokota 2 Hiker & Moab 2 Vented Hiker. Even my hard plastic orthidics did not compensate for it. The Women's Siren Edge Hiker arrived today, and feel perfect (even with my ortodics inserted underneath the removable sole inserts) as I walk around the house to test them out. The toe box is comfy because of the soft, flexable material; heel fits good; and ankle cut-outs are perfect for me - no rubbing. These shoes will be doing double duty as sneakers & hikers. The color is true to what's puctured on Amazon. It's listed as bright red, but the main fabric is more of an orangey-pinky-red in my opinion. I do like the bright colors. Hope the pictures help. I would highly recommend this shoe. No, I was not paid to do a review - I'm an ordinary customer.

Money Well Spent!
I’m not a regular hiker, living in flat-as-a-pancake Illinois, but with a hiking weekend in Sedona on the horizon I needed something better than my slip-on sneakers. After shopping at all the outdoor/sports/shoe stores, I just couldn’t justify spending upwards of $100 on an unattractive pair of hiking shoes I’d likely never wear again. Enter these beauties...I shipped them straight to Sedona and thankfully the size 8s were a perfect fit (I’m usually a 7.5/8). But even better, they were absolutely amazing through the different terrains we hiked; sandy paths through the woods, rocky paths through the red rock and even up the face of Bell Rock! My courage failed eventually, but my Sirens didn’t slip once. And the best part is that they are a great, comfortable, good looking athletic shoe that I’ll be happy to wear any day at home. Money well spent!

Good Value, Sturdy, Not Extremely Comfortable
I took a chance ordering these online last minute two days before I hiked the Skyline Trail at Mt Rainier. I wore them to the airport to break them in and found to be uncomfortable walking around on regular ground; so much so that I took them off during my flight and put on my regular running shoes. The soles are really stiff and don't have much cushion or bounce at all. Tried adding Dr. Scholls inserts, but then my feet felt like they were up a little too high and the ankle support wasn't as good.Comtemplated returning but decided to try them out on my hike and I'm soooo glad I did. Ordered a half size up and wore two pairs of socks for my hike. There was still a little room in the shoes with the double socks -- without double socks they felt a little too loose, so I would say they run true to size. I think the double socks helped make themmore comfortable, so I would probably suggest going up a half size so you have room for two pairs of thinner socks or one pair of nice thick socks. They were very comfortable up until the last mile or so of the 5.5 mile trail. There were tons of loose jagged rocks all over the trail and thanks to these shoes I didn't feel the impact of that at all. Good ankle support and was not slippery even walking over rocks in a creek with running water. Was a little slippery walking over a downhill patch of icy snow, but I'm not sure what kind of shoe wouldn't have been. (Maybe a hiking boot?) Also, my feet stayed dry even after stepping in a few inches of water and snow.Overall, these were a good purchase for the price and I'm glad I chose these as my first pair of hiking shoes. I imagine you can get more comfort with a higher price tag, but I'm hoping these will become more comfortable as I break them in.Bonus is that for hiking shoes they are pretty cute and from a glance look like regular sneakers.

Great product (and the chemical smell does go away)
Right out of the box, these shoes had a very strong, chemical odor. I have owned quite a few Merrells, but none of them smelled so strong. This could not be attributed to the waterproofing treatment, because these shoe are definitely not waterproof. Even a droplet of water will soak right through. I am fine with that, as I didn't expect them to be waterproof or water resistant. After about 20 minutes of wearing them, I experienced a slight allergic reaction, and decided to let them vent out before wearing them again. I let the shoes sit in a well ventilated location for about 3 weeks. As time went by, the smell dissipated enough for me to be able to wear them. At this point, the smell is completely gone. As for the size, this pair is a perfect fit. The shoes are quite comfortable, although not as comfortable as some of my other Merrells. They hug the foot very well and offer a reasonable support. The colors are exactly as shown in the image. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.
