Excel Bookkeeping and Accounting Paperback – June 20, 2011

I have been buying from Amazon for years and this is my very first review. What prompted me to do so after all this time and hundreds of books? I do not wish to be overly harsh, but the Excel bookkeeping and accounting book I purchased is the greatest waste of money I have ever made at Amazon. Now I don't say this lightly but honestly, this book is nothing more than a long, long list of instructions, page by page, cell by cell of instructions you are supposed to follow to create a set of spreadsheets to be used for accounting. (endless list of "type this specific word into this exact cell on this worksheet") The steps are numbered and they reach into the hundreds for each spreadsheet. The spreadsheets could have been downloaded in seconds and the endless, innumerable, step by step instructions removed from the book. But then the book would end up being about 10 pages long. It has very little conversational content at all. It is merely a recipe for creating the spreadsheets. None of the formulas are overly sophisticated or daunting, just the sheer volume of the steps needed to create them. I remain amazed as I cannot fathom what the intent of the book actually was. I would say stay away. If the author has issue with anything I have said I would be happy to discuss my comments as I feel them fair and on target.

Being very rusty, this was just the book I needed to get me on my way. Clear, concise, & extremely helpful.
