Sound amazing when coupled with Scandya Smallpods.
Hear what Paul says in the only other review atm. He clearly knows his technical stuff which I really don't. Ordered this sub from Sevenoaks yesterday, Thurs and received unit today Fri. Well done Sevenoaks and DPD! Got sub unpacked, plugged in and connected to my Scandyna Smallpods (which although I love was always aware of lack of presence and richness about them). Had a wee fiddle with the subs settings and away I went. Absolutely delighted with what they have added to my speakers and listening experience. And pleased I didn't hesitate at £99.

Visually nice, accoustically sub-standard
I had heard some opinions that this sub doesn't have the "presence" of other units. While it does thump out a beat, it does feel to be lacking somehow, so I hooked it up to a tone generator to investigate. With the crossover wide open, there's plenty of response at 150Hz, it starts dropping off noticeably at 135Hz to 125Hz, comes back a bit to 105Hz, then drops away even worse. The response is pitiful at 100Hz and 75Hz, with a little output inbetween. It then peaks back up again at 55Hz, but is practically dead at 40Hz and below. For the size of the driver (just over 6"), and the small enclosure with no reflex port, it is understandable that the response drops away at the bottom end, but the lack of flatness in the usable band is definitely sub-standard, especially considering the price tag.I'd say I get better performance (albeit with a low power rating) from the sub on my Sandstrom 2.1 speakers.Definitely not for the hi-fi enthusiast - not suitable for if you want wide convincing bass. Maybe ok for adding some extra dimension to tv/movie surround sound system, and if you particularly like the style. Definitely better performance can be had elsewhere, much cheaper.
