Have had this book for years. Wanted an updated version

I think this could be helpful whenever it's needed. The price couldn't be beat. Full of information and ways to deal with things that come up.

Excellent reference for all medical info. Easy to find the right info. Used frequently. Even bought one for my daughter who has twins. Info is easy to understand also.

Very informative book. Easy to read & understand. However, after purchasing this book, I found that all of the text (that I have searched for so far) is available online also- FOR FREE! If I had known this, I wouldn't have purchased it for sure. But still a good reference nonetheless.If you're sick in bed or stuck on the toilet often, etc, then just get the book for reading (staring at computer screens all day messes you up anyway).Price was great.

I have bought a new one every year for the past ten years. It is technical enough to convey complicated medical information yet still readable by a lunkhead like me. It is always up-to-date and accurate. We even give these away as Christmas gifts. We also buy THE PILL BOOK every years - new meds every year and cautionary tales on old ones.Here is a real life example. To speak indelicately, I found blood in my urine. I read about kidney ailments in the Merck manual, and learned about the usual first sign of kidney cancer - blood in the urine. I rushed to the doctors for ultrasound, CT's, etc as described in the manual. I had kidney cancer, but it was discovered before it had spread. I am still alive, minus my left kidney. Do people who read books generally outlive those who don't? That might be an interesting question.Like I said, it makes a wonderful gift - if the recipient has the smarts to use it. But first someone has to buy it.

I have been a rural volunteer EMT for 26 years and am responsible for the well-being of my isolated community in the event of an event which cuts us off from medical transport or services. This book is an excellent, non-internet, source of medical information.

I like having this kind of book on hand in my home for answering any questions, whenever they pop up.It's good to educate yourself about your body so you can keep it healthy.

First a point of clarification: This is NOT a small book, either physically or print size.Secondly: As a medical professional, I can attest that for the lay individual this reference book is probably one of the most well written, concise, thorough and easy to understand medical books everyone should have.This book covers the gamut of medical issues.

The measure of all other medical resource material. Excellent book

This is one of the best medical manual's you can have in the home bar none; its comprehensive list of aliments and the solutions to solving them would be what you hear at a GP's and the advice it offers is practical and easy to follow. Just one tiny thing about this particular edition - pay attention to the dimensions of the product as it is the "pocket edition" of the home manual - that said everything is still there and I found it easy to read, and not as heavy as its full sized companion. Well worth the money.

It's a Great BookIf you are like me who has lots of intrest in medical topics than you can Confidently go for this Book.

I am very impressed by this little book. You can find out just about everything in this book. The medical information contained in this book was superb. I am reading it little by little every night and I also use it as a quick reference for when I need to find a little something about someone’s medical condition. Because the book is so useful, I usually keep it with me at all times and since it’s a paperback it’s getting beat up. I’ll have to buy a hard-cover soon.
