Dust extraction where you need it
Does what it promises, it is light and attaches nicely. It is also mostly plastic, so one needs to be careful with handling. Hose could always be longer and I needed to rummage my odd vacuum pieces to find adapter that fits the end of the hose. As it is it does not fit any regular vacuum cleaner piece. You need an adapter for the last mile. The people at Makita should include this.

Works, but isn't great, and may not last
First things first; professionals will likely find this contraption annoying enough to simply not use it. For a DIY'er though, it's fantastic, albeit with caveats. Before we dive into the review though, some advice; ensure you are connecting it to a shop vac which has a filter appropriate for concrete dust, which is not necessarily the default. If you don't do that, you're probably just going to be blasting the dust out into the air and breathing it in anyway, if your intent in using this was for personal health and not solely to avoid messes.Okay; review time, we'll do bad followed by good. Here's the issues:1) It uses a ridiculously small and short hose. I had to buy one of those graduated shop vac attachments to connect the vacuum to this, and due to the small diameter of the connection, combined with a lack of vent holes, the vacuum will get really loud and really hot while in use. A few vent holes would likely not significantly change the suction at the drill bit, if at all, and would reduce the strain on the vacuum along with the noise. I may drill some at some point to see how it goes.If you're up on a ladder, the need to use the weird attachments, etc. with no positive locking mechanism, means it's going to regularly detach when you go to drill, and then you're climbing back down to reconnect and start again. A contractor using this in a professional setting is likely to get frustrated and simply stop using it, given time is money.2) The part at the tip that the drill bit passes through has rubber flaps to 'seal' the chamber where the vacuum inlet is. So the theory is you press it against the wall, it seals the hole drilling area, and the dust is sucked out. Honestly the flaps don't serve too much of a purpose. If you're using a shop vac with significant suction, it's going to get the dust whether these flaps are there or not. Perhaps they're only there for lower end vacuums. In any case, no matter how you orient the hand grip on your hammer drill, the drill bit seemingly never lines up on center with the suction contraption. Therefore, even after limited DIY use around my garage, the rubber flaps have become all chewed up in the center section, effectively eliminating any sealing that was once occurring, hence my suggestion that they serve no purpose other than to get in the way.3) The spring on the part that recesses into the housing as you drill into the concrete is not strong enough. There are times where the hole will be complete and I'll start to back out and the vacuum ring does not extend back out to remain pressed against the wall, allowing dust to fall out of the hole onto whatever is below. I've developed a technique where I orient my hand in a way that allows me to nudge it if I see that starting to occur, so it pops back out against the wall. This is another reason a pro would likely find it frustrating.Anyway, beyond those issues, it is handy. If you hammer drill in a garage or similar enclosed space, dust is going to go everywhere. You don't want to be breathing it, nor do you want it landing on your vehicles, etc. This contraption solves the problem nicely, albeit with its quirks you have to get used to. I'd buy it again, it just could be slightly better.

Makita needs to do some research
Makita seems clueless about dust collection. This item is an obvious idea poorly implemented. The aperture gets clogged with the first chip of concrete. The small tube diameter means that suction is limited to the immediate location so lots of dust escapes. And as usual the hose doesn't mate with anything with grunt like a Shop-Vac.
