As a piano technician for 40 years, I feel Shaff customer service Is tremendous. Don’t for a second think that a $58 Chinese hammer is the equal to this Shaff hammer. This is a USA quality made hammer and not some Chinese made look alike crafted out of pot metal. Shaff makes some of the finest piano hammers in the business and this rosewood extension is their top model. I have used this exact model for over 20 years. It is perfectly balanced and if you do enough upright pianos, you will be very glad that you have that extension. This is a prime example of getting what you pay for. This is a quality tool that will last a lifetime and not some knockoff that may damage your tuning pins. If you are serious about tuning, Shaff hammers are what many professionals use. There is a reason for that. They are top notch, very high quality and offer superb craftsmanship.

I've been a technician for 35 years and have never needed to use the extension. What you want is a lever that has mass and is heavy. Aside from that, Schaff does not stand behind its products. Always a big argument. After a lot of wasted time and energy, they accept fault and issue a credit. The Chinese Rosewood tuning lever here at Amazon Prime looks like it has some weight to it and at $56 seems by far the better value. But I don't see a weight given in product description. If you're serious, find a heavy-looking hammer. you'll have an easier time maneuvering the tuning pins.
