The vintage sunburst on Mahogany brings out the grain to create a warm look to match its tone. Our mahogany top guitars have a focused sound with strong mids, great for recording and live work. The term "solid top" of course refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it does not necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to really release the energy a solid soundboard can generate. Artist Series is built to do exactly this. Each model is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce a tone and player experience, rarely found in affordable instruments. These components include our FST2M bracing system, bi-level bridge, real bone nut and great quality tone woods. The sound is warm, open and powerful, and both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. These guitars feel right and are exciting to play and responsive. New Artist Series guitars look stunning and come in a huge variety of shapes, colors and wood choices from standard OM and Dreadnought models to more specialist instruments such as Baritone and Parlor. Each shape is also available has a left-handed version.

I Love this Guitar
Due to an inventory glitch, the company was out of this model but had the electric version, so I got that. I wanted a parlor guitar so I could have a smaller body over my dreadnought and I didn't expect the sound to be as amazing for a small body guitar. It plays like a dream and it gets even better with the electric plugged in. It is hard to stop playing it. The B-Band Sys550 pick-up system has a lot of controls to change the sound of the guitar and it is a dream to hear. I'm totally pleased with this Alvarez and I play it as much amped as I do unplugged. Sounds great either way.

The Parlor and Beyond
I've been waiting years for a guitar like this. I don't know how they make such a nice guitar at this nice price. The body is actually longer than most acoustic guitars. This is not a small guitar although it's called a 'parlor.' This guitar feels 'right.' The neck is not slim, it feels like you want to hold it all day - not too thin, not too thick. They got it just right. The tuners are tight. The headstock, with its old fashioned look is beautiful. The whole finish and color of this guitar is gorgeous. The sound is dreamy. Everything you want for folk or blues music. It has that 'open' sound that is so hard to describe. It's a pleasant sound, and yes, loud. And the low E has some boom. Everything about this guitar is right. No wonder they're out of stock most of the time!!! Get one.

Classic Styling and Amazing Sound!
Bought one of these when my #1 Alvarez developed an internal pickup issue on the eve of a big show. Needed a solid guitar which sound good both acoustic and plugged in. This baby does not disappoint! It is a parlor style guitar, meaning the body is slightly thinner from side to side than a standard dreadnaught style. It features an amazing solid African mahogany top, back, and sides, which really provide a nice rich tone. As with all new guitars, it will take a while for the wood to really open up and develop its own sound, but this one sounds great right out of the box. It also has a really nice, slim mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard...there ar no fret markers on the top of the fingerboard, except at the 12th fret. Small side marker dots are still present though. There is also no pickguard present, which when coupled with the finish and the beautiful thin ring of abalone or some such similar substance around the soundhol, really gives the guitar an elegant style which is quite unique. The onboard preamp and pickup system sounds great, though I find I have to dial the bass, treble and mid back along with the volume to get a nice even sound. If I adjust to the positive side on any of the sliders, it is just too much! It features a built-in tuner, which is really nice and simple to use, and has a seperate battery compartment and 1/4 inch jack cut into the underside in the same area one would typically find the jack on an electric guitar like a Les Paul. This is nice because it doesn't interfere with the strap button, and battery changes are quick and easy. I put a Lute-Hole company feedback buster in the soundhole and it really finishes it out nicely. I love Alvarez guitars, and this one is just another prime example of the quality, design and fabulous sound one can acheive in a < $1k instrument.Parlor body-style

Great Parlor Guitar
I bought this as a couch guitar to play around with and work on finger picking. I didn't expect much on the sound front considering its a small body guitar that has laminate back and sides, however the sounds out performs the price for sure, on par with the entry level Martins. Fit and finish were excellent and the guitar looks beautiful. The guitar has a 1 3/4 nut width which is great for finger picking but certainly doesn't preclude it from being a great strumming guitar either. If you are in the market for couch/parlor guitar in the sub $500 range, I think this is hands down the clear winner (or the Ap70 which has a Spruce top and a slightly brighter sound).
