Great Do-It-Yourself Camera System
This is by far the easiest security camera system I've ever used. I am thinking of replacing a different system at my house with this one after installing this at my office. You install your cables inside the attic, run them out to the eaves and install cameras. Connections are simple and system could be installed in less than three hours. Works great with any television capable of plugging an HDMI cable into it, to view cameras. The app works great on my phone and alerts me when there is movement when I am not at the office. I wish I had purchased two additional cameras for more coverage, but the four-camera system works great if you only need to cover four views.Would recommend to anyone looking for a simple security system they can install themselves!

Great cameras and DVR
Setup wasn't too difficult and now we have eyes in the front and back of our home 24/7! We love it. Super easy to use. No monthly data storage fees necessary. You can even add up to 4 more cameras if you want. Note: the DVR doesn't have Bluetooth so you will have to hook it up to a TV or computer near your router or you will have to run a cable to it. The app gives you access to the cameras when you are away. Kit also comes with stickers to let people know you have surveillance going. Very pleased with this purchase!

Good system for the money.
I read some negative reviews about this system before I bought it, but I decided to take a chance. Glad I did. The system was easy to install and the set up was very simple. Swann has updated a lot of the set up settings to defaults that make customizing it for you easy. Cameras are good quality and the images are clear. This isn't a NASA quality system, but we use it to keep an eye on a beach house and for that it works fine. The phone app could not have been more simple to download and set up.

Plug and Play
My old unit failed. I live in Florida and we have issues with severe storms (AKA Lightning Capitol) A few years ago we were hit and I lost a bunch of stuff, and my Swann system finally went Kaput. I was hoping that this new system could make use of the cameras and wiring I had already in place and IT DID!!! VERY HAPPY! I am now trying to figure out where to put the extra cameras!!!! The online feature for our smart phones works great too! The new layout is much better than the old one! We are very pleased!!!

No tech support/cameras hard to connect
We were looking for a system that could handle doing its own recordings, so we did not have to have a subscription service that you had to pay for. These seem to fit the requirements with good reviews on the quality of images and the night vision. These cameras showed up well packaged and timely. The manufactures recommendation to hook everything up and make sure that it all works, is definitely the best way to go. It did have a 3-foot HDMI and ethernet cable (not long enough to do anything with) but they were included. They also included the 4 cameras which were well packaged. The package also included all the connection cables from the cameras to the DVR, and a Mouse was included. It did not include a monitor, but you can hook it up to your HDMI 1080 TV if you have one.We unpackaged everything, hooked it up before running lines or unraveling all the cables. They showed they had power by the red lights on the camera. Now the fun starts, pairing the cameras to the application - you need to scan the bar code on top of the DVR with the application you downloaded from the play store (or whatever application you use), scanning the QR code was somewhat of a challenge as you have to make sure you are not to close or too far from the image or it will not scan. Then you need to put in some user ID (one Amazon support said it was the email that you used to create the account on the application you downloaded, another stated it was the network ID and password, so they truly did not know). Amazon tech stated they would research further since nothing that they said to do would get the cameras to connect to the application and call me back in an hour. Hour came and went, 3 hours later I called back again and got another tech who wanted to pass me off to Swann, where I informed her that I had already requested a call back two days prior with no response (so I would not expect one if you decide to do this option by calling Swann Support). Finally admitted defeat as the cameras would not connect to their application (Swann Security), could not get viable, informative help to get it connected and told them I was returning the product. Do not waste your money. Swann does provide a card for an installer to come and do the installation for you and I called them. They quoted me $800.00 - $1000.00 to come and hook up their system. This product is no user friendly, according to tech they have had a bunch of complaints on this same issue on the cameras not connecting and product being returned.I would NOT recommend you buy this product unless you are a type of installer, of security systems, cable or networks.

Great picture, install was as expected, remote access is great and no monthly subscription.
I have rated this as easy to install as if you are not OCD about visible wires etc this is a very easy kit to install. If like me you want to hide all wires and place this at 4 points under the eaves of a 2 storey house then this will take some amount of heartache!I spent a good amount of time planning my install. The most important thing is where to put your DVR box. Once you know that you can decide on the distance from the box to each camera and make sure you have enough wire from dvr to the camera. You can also ensure that you can get an ethernet cable to the box(if you want remote access from a phone/pc).You will need some DIY expertise to run wires cleanly and safely if routing through an attic space/eaves etc. I added a wired ethernet connection from the ground floor to the first floor of my house but a powerline adaptor could be used for this. You will need some technical expertise to open ports and forward external connections to your DVR IP address on your internet router if you want remote access. Generic information on doing this is available in the manual and online, but it is vital for access remotely.Although quite a bit of expertise is needed to install this and get it operating as you require, it is a fantastic piece of kit and the required work was expected. In terms of picture quality it is exactly as expected and required. The alarm notifications for certain areas of each camera picture work brilliantly, as does the motion and PIR detection. One of my favourite things about this install is the fact that there is no third party involved in connection to your DVR remotely. As long as its powered on and online, you are connecting directly to this and not to a website that then connects to your dvr. Even if the support for this model is discontinued, the previous apps will always give you access to the dvr remotely. This is fantastic when compared to subscription based services that could change or discontinue products and deny access to old equipment.
