Spoilers and Very Little New Information
For those that don't know, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMIX was a compilation of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re: Chain of Memories, and a movie version of 358/2 Days. Chain of Memories is exactly the same game as the PS2 port of the same name released in the US in 2008 in HD. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix is the original Kingdom Hearts (released for PS2 in 2002) with a few extra enemies, revamped synthesis, an extra boss, and more weapons and accessories. The Final Mix version of the game was never released in the outside Japan until this compilation. Keep this in mind while looking through the rest of this review.--Kingdom Hearts Final Mix--As I mentioned above, the Final Mix version has some new features but is overall the same game from before. When buying this guide, I was expecting a fair amount of copying and pasting because of this. What I was hoping was that the writers would at least make an effort to update the existing text with the new information. What's Included/Updated- Boss strategy for the new secret boss, "The Unknown"- Synthesis recipe list- List of new special enemiesWhat's NOT Included- Synthesis ingredient list- Strategies for new special enemies- Gummi ship missions- Gummi blueprint listThere could be other items I could add to the lists, but I haven't yet dived into the Trinity list nor the Dalmatian list (both had minor changes in the Final Mix versions). I will update this review when I know for sure on these two items and others. One major issue for me is the lack of information on the new enemies. These new enemies aren't just normal hack-and-slash kills. Most of them require a strategy to kill or get their special item to drop. This guide not only doesn't have the strategy, in most cases it doesn't even mention which item they drop! The small list of the new enemies has "Special Item" listed for most of the enemies as their drop. Not very helpful!--Spoilers Abound--Just in case you haven't played through the rest of the series, I'll be careful with my wording here.Though not mentioned in game, the new secret boss in the Final Mix is referred to by his actual name in the guide. Very silly in my opinion as it can give away a little. This is a minor gripe though. If you haven't played Chain of Memories and bought this guide to help you through it, I highly recommend NOT reading the Characters section of the Chain of Memories guide. This section gives away major (in my opinion) plot points which should be left for the player to discover. One particular character's bio even gives away a minor Kingdom Hearts 2 plot point! Why the author(s) thought this was okay is beyond my comprehension.Even in the middle of the walkthroughs it's pretty lined out as to what happens in the game. Don't read ahead with this guide or risk being spoiled to the story ahead.--Conclusion--Obviously if you need a guide for this game you're going to want to get this, but know that it's not exactly complete. My guide came with a code for the eGuide on Prima's website so it's POSSIBLE that the eGuide will be updated with the desired information. I'm not sure if the code for the eGuide is available to everyone or just a Pre-Order type of bonus. Many people, myself included, mostly just collect strategy guides for the artwork contained within. This guide doesn't have an artwork section like some guides do, but it does have some artwork scattered throughout. If you're looking for a good STRATEGY guide for the new enemies and such, I recommend looking to other (free) websites such as GameFAQs.It's nice to have a bit of the new stuff in one place, but it sure would have been nice to have it all in there. With as many times as this guide's release date was pushed back (over a month) I would have thought these issues would have been noticed or fixed.--Rating--3 out of 5 for the fact that the strategy guide is a walkthrough for the two games, but it lost some stars due to the amount of missing information. Here's to the Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX guide being more useful.

Not bad, but it could be better.
NOTE: I have NOT thoroughly read through this guide, I merely skimmed for essential details that may or may not have been present.I started seeing reviews for this guide the day before I received my copy. To be honest, I was quite nervous as most of these reviews were negative and nearly made me regret making this purchase. But then my copy arrived, and honestly, it isn't as bad as everyone says it is. I don't know where people are thinking that the guide has neglected to add strategies to the Final Mix-exclusive enemies, as there is an ENTIRE SECTION dedicated to them, complete with stats, drops, and strategies. I'm almost under the impression that some have received a different iteration of the guide. Now for my own observation. The first thing I read upon opening the book was a brief prelude outlining how to start a new game, in which it says you have "Normal Mode" and "Expert Mode" to choose from, which are the difficulty settings to the original version of the game; this guide is supposed to cover the Final Mix version of the game, whose difficulty settings changed to "Proud Mode", "Standard Mode", and "Beginner Mode". That is a crucial oops, and this mistake is repeated at the end of the KH1FM walkthrough when it previews the "Expert Mode Bonuses". The beginning of the "Chain of Memories" section also provides a brief description for each world in the game where it states that Hollow Bastion used to be Beast's Castle...that is so far from the truth that it can send a guy into a nerd rage.Next, and this I was quite pleased with, is the heavy use of screenshots to detail the strategies--not just for boss battles, but for everything in between. My only complaint is that some of these screenshots seem overlaid with an ugly yellow-green-ish tint, but that much is forgivable. Another huge plus, which I was personally looking forward to the most, is the Bestiary. This improves heavily on the original BradyGames guide with higher resolution images of the Heartless, complete with specific locations, drops, and every instance in which they occur (i.e. recurring boss battles in tournaments with stats for each fight). This was very nice. And as I mentioned before, there is an entire section dedicated to the Final Mix-exclusive Heartless which were a joyous addition. Now for what's missing. The preview promises to guide readers to the Platinum Trophy in each game...well, almost. Though most of the trophies are self-explanatory, there's little doubt that most players are having trouble with the "Gummi Ship Collector" trophy. First of all, the guide is missing a complete list of Gummi Ship blueprints (the BradyGames guide had this). Secondly, a large handful of Gummi Ship blueprints are obtained via completing the Tier 3 challenge for each Gummi route, which is an excruciating ordeal. Though there is, in theory, little that a guide can do to help (I found YouTube videos to be more helpful when I hunted this trophy), it is upsetting that the guide does not offer up its own strategies for these challenges. And while we're on the subject of trophies, I was a little upset that the trophy list did not include trophy portraits--but I suppose that's a minor gripe.I've mentioned more than once that I am comparing this guide to the original BradyGames guide written by Dan Birlew. Though Dan Birlew has had no hand in the creation of this guide, I found multiple instances where I found some paragraphs to be eerily familiar, like the author(s) merely copied and pasted some passages while only changing a couple of words. That's plagiarism as far as I'm concerned. As I've stated in the beginning, I was pleasantly surprised with this guide for the most part. It's pretty decent, and the coverart alone is awesome, but at the same time, "Kingdom Hearts HD I.5 ReMIX" is a very special HD anniversary rerelease of a beloved game--it's a bit of a shame that the guide doesn't share the same attitude. The guide operates more like a text book than something that is supposed to be a special edition guide. I feel like the BradyGames guide succeeded better in realizing that it was a special guide to a special game.

Highly inaccurate
When I pre-ordered this item it was delayed due to overselling, and after further issues (not being dispatched despite it being back in stock), eventually I received it a week late, however, I did get given a Β£5 gift voucher from amazon as an apology, so the response was good, but not great. When it did arrive I was over the moon, it looks great, is sturdy and had a ribbon bookmark. However, many months on, I have, on numerous occasions, found many errors in terms of chests and in hollow bastion there is a floor that is laid out completely wrong, with a chest containing the wrong contents - it was confusing to say the least because from my perspective I was in a room that didn't exist opening a chest that didn't exist.Another example is that each area of a map is numbered with lettered entrances and there is a list of chests with basic instructions on how to get to them, e.g three chests had the notation "Through entrance o" there was no "o", they meant entrance D, this is in Wonderland - the most confusing world in terms of entrances and exits. And anyone who wants to find the Dalmatians should just YouTube it because you will not find them using this guide, so many of the numbers are incorrect, and are in the incorrect place, trying to find 67,68,69, at the back of the guide it says they're in 9-2 in halloween town, they're not, they also aren't listed in the information at the beginning of any of the worlds, no their real place is in halloween town, in 9-7 from the white trinity (which according to the guide should give you "Comet-G"). These errors aren't print errors either, I used the code provided to get an online version and the mistakes are still there (could be easily corrected too).Oh and the most obvious mistake - the first I noticed, the map of the worlds, poor old Monstro has been put on the bottom of the second loop instead of the top, it seriously baffles me how you could get that wrong, you make the picture by copying a picture.Did they even check this? If they did, it was spelling errors only, not the actual information. Truth is I could probably spit out a better guide than this, and I just might give it a go.

pretty comprehensive...
Well I haven't used it much, I had already replayed the 1.5 remix using my old Kingdom Hearts Piggyback guide from almost 10 years ago.Thought I'd get this to see what I missed and to have in collection. It's pretty much covers everything and the new changes and items/strategies.I think it isn't as nice as the old one though (Maybe I'm biased and love the cover artwork under the Kingdom Hearts moon). It covers ReChain of Memories too so it's a pretty hefty hardback.Little brother just beat Proud mode there and he was using the guide a bit.worth it for any fan.

So disappointing. Got when book was released and found so many errors. Chests marked in wrong places with wrong items. Maps wrong, ive bought a lot.of game guides but I seriously doubt ill buy another based on this shambles. It doesnt do what its supposed to do as it contains so many errors! Even worse they havent released a book for Kh2.5 so tge collection wont be complete properly. Probably they realised how shoddy this guidebook was!

So many errors
Well, the book arrived very late despite pre-ordering it. When it did arrive I noticed it was very well made. Great quality pages and art, ribbon bookmark and nice cover. That being said, a huge portion of contents in this book is inaccurate. It is riddled with errors, everywhere.A prime example of this is the description of a mega-potion: "Restores 3MP of each party member". This is just one example of dozens. Also, don't even try to use this guide to find all the puppies. That's just not going to happen as more often than not the contents of the chest are inaccurate as well.Overall, I am not happy. This is meant to be a guide and information resource and this book simply does not fit that purpose at all.

I have nothing to say but good things about this product
I bought this to go along side my copy of KH HD 1.5 Remix.I have nothing to say but good things about this product. The overall presentation of the book is incredible, it's asethetically pleasing to the eye and it's a pleasure to even just flick through the pages. The fact it's hard back makes the quality even better. If you're wanting just some help with the game, or wanting to not missing out on anything the game has to offer, this book is amazing! Even if you just want something to "complete" the KH set, this book is such a good purchase.
