Component required to prevent Samsung ice maker failure
Use this with (1) new epoxy and (2) the redesigned ice maker assembly to prevent Samsung ice maker failure. The plastic box may not be required (it's identical to the originally installed piece), but the clips are. Easy to install to fix your problems, but I will never buy a Samsung fridge again due to their horrible design. The ice maker issue is easily resolved, but should have been a product wide recall instead of a bulletin.

Works for me
Pain in the butt to install

Pricey
Added this to installation of icemaker for a little added frost and freezing protection and so far so good, everything seems to be functioning normal again. Seemed a little pricey for a small piece of plastic and a couple of clips, but if it helps prevent anymore issues it will be worth the $10. Didn't realize until the installation process the clips are to provide a condensation drip edge from cool and freeze tube.

Frost buildup
This did not fix Frost buildup on the ice maker, had issues with both old and new ice maker as well. Supposed to fix issues with ice maker freezing.

Exact match to original
Product went in without any problem exact match to original clips. I replaced this just as part of my icemaker change up.

Samsung Ice Maker - stopped icing up with this fix!
Watched several online videos to feel confident enough to pull out the ice maker and install these new parts, the gasket an DC two metal clips which are necessary to help condensation drip/drain into the right space behind the ice maker.Hardest part was melting blocks of built-up ice around and behind the ice maker, so I could make the repairs. Did a forced defrost 3 times (25 minutes each, see online videos for your Samsung model to get the sequence on the light panel), then used my blow dryer to melt the ice in the back--however, this is NOT recommended, as it DID start to warp the plastic inner sides. I stopped as soon as I noticed.Once I removed the ice holder and ice maker, I used food-grade RV sealant to seal the tiny gap (seam) on the left side and along the back of the ice space, which seals in the cold and keeps out warm air. Then I installed the new plastic gasket and slipped the two new "Y" clips onto the condenser coil toward the back. Thanks to all the generous and amazing online videographers who made this repair possible for this DIY mom! Thank you!Did it work? Well, it helped--water stopped freezing inside the ice maker, but an additional repair is needed to stop water seeping under the veggie and meat drawers. I've just received those parts which must be installed in the back inside and rear corner of fridge, which I will take care of after Christmas--with thr help, again, of those amazing YouTube helpers!

Doesn’t work
Nothing fixes the freezing up only prolongs the problem coming back. Can’t put an ice maker in the fridge surrounded by warmer air then ice.

Seems To Have Fixed My Ice Maker
I saw this in a video for repairing Ice Makers. My ice maker was making soft ice that was melting in the bin and water was running out the door.I removed the ice maker caulked it all over inside and replaced this part. Now my ice is hard and frosty and no longer melts in the bin.
