What direction should a ceiling fan spin in summer and winter?

In summer, a ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise to create a cooling breeze. In winter, set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise at a low speed to help circulate warm air, improve comfort, and support energy efficiency.

How do I choose the right ceiling fan size for my room?

Choose a ceiling fan based on room size - Small rooms (up to 100 sq. ft.): 29–36 inches - Medium rooms (100–300 sq. ft.): 42–52 inches - Large rooms (300+ sq. ft.): 54 inches or larger

How do you measure a ceiling fan?

Ceiling fans are measured by their blade span (diameter) from tip to tip. For fans with an odd number of blades, measure from the center of the fan to one blade tip and multiply by two to determine the full blade span.

Do ceiling fans help lower energy costs?

Yes, energy efficient ceiling fans help lower energy costs by improving air circulation. In summer, they allow you to raise your thermostat while maintaining comfort. In winter, they help distribute warm air more evenly throughout the room.

Where should you use indoor, damp-rated, and wet-rated ceiling fans?

Damp-rated fans: In addition to dry space, can be used in covered outdoor areas like porches or bathrooms with moisture. Wet-rated fans: In addition to dry and damp spaces, can be used in fully exposed outdoor areas like patios or pergolas.
