Just hold your phone in front of your face to unlock (or use a backup PIN). And the lock screen now lets you do more without unlocking. From the slide lock screen, you can jump directly to the camera for a picture or pull down the notifications window to check for messages. When listening to music, you can even manage music tracks and see album art. Home Screen Folders Quickly access related apps right from the home screen by organizing apps and shortcuts into folders--just drag one app onto another to create a folder. Multitasking Multitasking is even easier and more visual in Android 4.0.4. The Recent Apps button lets you jump instantly from one task to another using the list in the System Bar. The list pops up to show thumbnail images of apps used recently--tapping a thumbnail switches to the app. Voice Input The new voice engine in Android 4.0.4 lets you dictate the text you want, for as long as you want, using the language you want. You can speak continuously for a prolonged time, even pausing for intervals if needed, and dictate punctuation to create correct sentences. Overall a great value but doesnt live up to the technical specs
We wanted a extra phone that we could add to our existing plan. This was for our young kids in school and gave them a means to contact us. We werent looking for something fancy. Rather something that would allow our kids to text us or call. That being said if you want a advance technical smart phone then this phone isnt for you. But it fit our needs just right even though the descriptions and reviews are quite confusing.First off the micro sd slot is not active. Part of the description mentions that but the technical data says the phone will support it. I also found that some of the reviews stated it works but i assure you it does not. Therefore you are limited to the onboard memory. 4GB. But not really. You actually only get a 1gb and it appears that half of that is used up by the operating system. Dont expect to be watching netflix or doing much gaming on this device. After we got the phone i started reading reviews via a internet search engine and found that many were experiencing issues with the mic on speaker phone. Then i tested out the speaker phone on our device and found that our phone had the same issues. There is a good chance the one you buy will likely have the same issues. It appears that the phone had alot of potential. Apparently most of the issues are software related. Sadly Sprint and Kyocera never worked together to address it. They tend to point fingers at each other instead of brain storming and fixing it.The pictures are a little blurry but screen resolution looks good to my eyes. The phone feels good in my hand. Feels rugged and childproof. No need to buy a case for this phone.I actually seen this phone as a recommendation for a kid phone. Supposedly according to that review there is some parental restrictions that can be configured. I havent figured that out and possibly the sprint version does not offer that. However i did like some options. I was able to configure some of the contacts (ex. Mom or Dad) as shortcuts on the home screen. Making it easy for them to call and text us.Overall i consider the phone a great value. Its a solid device. Doesnt have all the tech power but fitted what we needed. If you wanted a spare phone to have as a phone to fill your needs in between phones. I would suggest this phone. Im sure if the phone could handle what it was intended to do, then the price would atleast be doubled.

It took it like a champ
Still using this phone after almost 3 years. (It's actually my fiance's phone and he's still using it). He's thrilled with the phone. It has met his needs in almost every way. The durability of the phone was the biggest selling point for him. He's in the field all day every day and he needed a phone rugged enough to handle it. The permanent case that is actually part of the phone has truly protected it all this time. The screen is still in 'like new' condition. The water resistance has proved to be priceless....he's dropped it in the ocean, swimming pool and rain lots of times. It took it like a champ. The only downfall for him is the fact that it's on 4gb. He's run out of space a couple of times and had to remove some apps and run a cleaner a few times. Other than that....this phone is superb and he says he would buy it again.

I would buy it again but...
The main issue is that the internal memory is so small that even with a 32 Gb SD card I can't update most of my apps because of insufficient storage. This is the most common issue that I read about so I thought the large SD card would compensate but to no avail. It is so bad that I can't update Google Chrome at all after having the phone for only 6 months, I had to revert it back to the original version. That being said I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a smartphone but is a bit rougher than your average Sprint phone can handle. It makes up for its memory pitfalls by being genuinely rugged. The battery case popped open once when I dropped it really hard, luckily it wasn't into a puddle. And one time I took it out in the rain to check the bus schedule and the screen recognized the pressure of the raindrops and started pressing buttons.

Gets me by
Had to replace the device after 6 months. Freezes, and restarts itself when it feels like it. The ONLY reason I have and bought this device because I need the Direct Connect is a must for me. To be honest, its one of the better devices I had through out the years, just have to get use to it and its touchy, It has its up and downs like any device. I give the external speaker 5 stars, "ITS LOUD !!!", so loud that you have to turn it down. Durability: I have dropped it so many times that I lost count and it works flawless. No otterbox recommended for this device.

GREAT STARTED PHONE FOR A CHILD
This phone came fast and in great shape. Worked out the box, was like new. It DID NOT come with a sim card, so I purchased one for sprint phones and I activated this phone through Kajeet. The only downfall about this phone is the little memory, which you can add a micro SD card and this will help, but this is not a seller problem, this is just the way the phone is built. On the other hand this phone can really take a beating, it is built tough def not an iphone that will crack under pressure. So I chose it for my 12 yr old.

HORRIBLE DEVICE...AVOID AT ALL COSTS...
WORST PIECE OF GARBAGE EVER MADE!!!...Phone's only saving grace is very durable... As far as a phone, avoid at all costs...Worst operating system out there (And I only do Android)...Constantly drops websites in the midst of reading an article, slow internet speed...Poor features and design...This phone barely is usable for calls and texting... Will be getting rid of the very day my contract is up...WILL NEVER BUY KYOCERA AGAIN.
