A Chopper Is Born - Kit [DVD]

I really enjoyed "A Chopper is Born" and "A Plan is Born" so I was looking forward to watching them on DVD at my leisure. But on closer inspection of the DVD I was disappointed to learn that much of the original broadcast footage has been dropped - presumably so that it will fit onto a single DVD? There is 10 minutes of the "Osh kosh" stuff but the vast majority of the behind the scenes look around the Rotorway factory has been dropped and so has a lot of the actual build footage. A decision to cram 15 episodes onto one DVD has resulted in the the loss of over 2 hours original footage. This detracts significantly from the original viewing experience. Very disappointed. 2 stars.

This DVD is an overview of building a real life helicopter from an American kit.Presenter Mark Evans and his mate Pete, take us through the many and sometimes complex tecnical stages of building a helicopter.While fascinating and entertaining, unfortunately unlike his tv series, it doesn't go into the detail of Mark learning how to fly the machine.What it does do is to give us a thought provoking and very amusing couple of hours, for those of us that are fascinated with helicopters and their construction.I can recommend this DVD and enjoyed every minute of it.If only I had £40K, time, technical knowledge, flying ability and a huge garage/workshop!

Well I watched the original series on Discovery and apart from the Osh-Kosh bits, which I found quite boring, the rest was great. However, this DVD has been cut badly in my opinion and much of the original series' magic is missing. Still an ok DVD but not as good as the video I made of the entire series itself.This DVD is only 3 hours long - it needs a better edit and to be longer, or at least, on two DVDs instead of 1. I'm quite disappointed.

Good product

When I saw this for sale, I thought it would be the whole series, which I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Instead, I received a 3 hour show that was basically the highlights of the 15 episodes. Still, it was great watching it again.
