Perfect
I got this piece of gadget for my partner for his birthday, and he is very happy about it. Looks great, sound is really good, set up was really easy as well. Had a little problem with the first delivery- the cable was wrong and speakers didnt work either. Amazon did a great job, after filling the return form they sent second one straight away giving me a whole month to arrange a return of faulty item. All in all i rate this item 5 stars for easiness of set up. 5 stars for functionality. 5 stars for looks

Lovely idea, good sound, nice build, shockingly unreliable!
I bought this unit along with a Philips MCI8080 for wireless multiroom sound. When it works it's great, the sound for a small unit is good and though the interface is a bit slow, it's quite easy to use. However, I have spent the last year tearing my hair our in frustration that the software seems to be so unreliable. Too often the unit crashes and locks up, needing a complete power lead out and restart which takes too long. The Apple app too often can't find either unit and I've tried no end of wired and wireless combinations with different versions of the Apple app and not found one combo that worked even 80% of the time. In fact as the App has evolved it has become less reliable. Clearly Philips no longer wish to support this system to any reasonable degree. Then there's the debacle of Napster or Spotify, or there was, until Napster just disappeared from the machine one day. Unfortunately for reasons to do with Napster initially, it no longer supported Napster and though there seemed to be plans from Philips to support at a later date it never came. Spotify generally works well enough but crashes frequently enough for it to be very annoying and sub-standard.The plug on the transformer, was either a Euro or US plug so an adapter was needed as a UK transformer plug is not available it seems as I checked this with Philips.I could go on as I would strongly recommend avoiding this if you wish to use all features. In my experience the only reliable and consistent way to listen to music through the unit is using the AUX In and this of course defeats the object!

Disappointment at bleeding edge
I've waited more than 6 months to review this purchase. It sits wrapped and ready for collection by a courier to take to a Philips worship. But to be honest, it has been a disappointing white elephant from the beginning. As an IT professional, I'm embarrassed to admit that I was lured in by the promise of the Internet. I have 2 wifi networks at home - one personal and one for work - and the Steamium kept losing its connection to one or the other, when no other device did. The screens are slow, urn intuitive and often freeze. The reception is erratic. However, what has finally killed it is that it now freezes on th main menu, the touch screen display fades and I'm left with white lines on a dark background and no music! I've had excellent use from a number of other Philips products, but this has the feel if a product that will probably be great in a few more releases time, but has been rather rushed to market. I hope they won't be able to repair it and wil offer me a refund, so I can go back to a good old reliable Roverts radio. Perhaps I had a duff one, but perhaps not.So why two stars? For the product concept rather than the execution, I'm afraid.

Impressive product let down by lack of customer awareness.
I purchased this product just before Christmas after wanting to get into internet radio and music streaming. I read every article I could find on the technicalities involved and read all I could about all the products on the market, I then compared all this detail with the costs. My decision to buy the Philips was affected by i) The Philips website and their video on the product ii) The NP3900 Streamium Forum and the complaints and finally of course the cost!Firstly as only having a basic knowledge I was anxious about the setting up especially as the instructions are truly dreadful. There is no text just numbered pictures as in knock-down furniture! There is an online Manual which it really is essential to download. Unfortunately Philips gave the job, as so many of these companies do, to a technician who really doesn't know how to write for the 'average' non-technical customer. Add to this that all the documents are produced for all markets and therefore illustrations with chinese? are not the best idea. It was at this stage that I found that the power plug supplied is not a standard 3 pin but a two pin which is of the electric shaver type! So out again to try and buy an adapter - more hassle. In the end I had the thing working!Software for 'TwonkyMedia Server' was supplied which was so badly produced that Autorun wouldn't work which required a long conversation with a member Philips Customer support who assisted me in loading it. Again, no manual! I have now managed to play music directly from my PC and each day I learn a little more - why the delay? The manual is part of the interface for TwonkyMedia and is light blue on a dark blue background!! Now if you really wanted to be unhelpful could you pick two better colours?Right now the positive - Once you've got it working it deserves the four stars. It sounds great in fact, the quality of sound is as good as the Bose it has replaced. It looks good. Love the clock format on it when it's on standby. It's great being able to play my music straight off my PC with such a high quality of reproduction.I would have given it 5 stars had I not had all the initial problems - all due to the thoughtlessness of Philips. Why spoil an excellent ship for a halfpennyworth of tar!? Now to try and find a downloadable, printable 'TwonkyMedia Server Manual' as it applies to the Philips NP3900 Stremium!

Good unit if wired by Ethernet but not much use wireless
Originally purchased direct from Amazon but item had clearly been used and had dent. Amazon sent replacement but this would not start up. Eventually got working item but connection with wireless router is hit and miss so have decided to wire the two via Ethernet. Bit of a pain but the sound quality and compactness of the unit makes it worth it. I purchased this to connect with my Philips Streamium Wac 3500 as streamium stations are now hard to come by. Overall pleased with this unit but if you only want wireless ensure you have strong wireless connection in your home.

No Mains Cable TWICE
Not only did the original gift for Christmas not have a mains cable - the same was true of the replacement. Very very disappointed.
