Route hoses carefully and use brass compression fitting on hot outlet
I just replaced my first one after about 7 years so I am updating my review with another tip. The hot outlet is 3/8" OD pipe. I used a push fit connector. There is a lot of conducted heat from the tank and over time the o-ring in the connector started to leak. That water ran down inside the unit causing it to fail (they stink when they go bad). I have switched to a brass compression fitting; it feels a little loose but it will tighten up nicely. Then I used approx. 6" of 3/8 tubing to get away from the conduction heat of the tank. From there I used a 3/8 to 5/16 coupler that you can order here on Amazon to connect to the faucet. This solution shouldn't have the failure mechanism that I saw the first time and I expect this one to go over 10 years.------- Previous Review --------Long Island Homeowner gave a lot of good feedback. I have tried a couple and this is the best that I have had. The unit can produce over 4 cups of very hot water in one run, I haven't tried the upper limit but that is good enough for most needs. It also has a very fast recovery so you can get more hot water very quickly. There is some sensitivity to routing of the hot hose to the faucet. If the hose droops down from the unit before going up you will get a little cool water and a sputter/burst of air before getting hot. Be sure to mount the unit level, if you don't the steam won't vent properly and you can get sputtering. Construction is average but everything is thin walled so I don't expect infinite life. Then again, as noted the replacement process is SIMPLE so it really isn't much of an issue.

Looks Great but failed in 6 months.
It did not last very long, about 6 months. It was super easy to install and seems very well made. Stainless steel inside and out. It decided to try the commercial model which was more expensive but if it only lasts 6 months it's not worth the trouble. The manufacturer would not honor the warranty. They said I would have to call Amazon. It is Amazon's policy to only grant returns within 30 days but they made an exception. What a relief. So now I need to start all over and install a new one. OY ! Update. Got a refund but only $198. What a pain. Called Amazon a second time and got the rest. Three phone calls to get the refund ouch. Btw I found the almost identical hot water heater in Amazon called Ready HOT.. same everything so it fit right in and only took 30 mins to install. Cost. $100 less. I hope that one lasts a while longer.

Long Island Homeowner
I owned a Franke Little Butler. It is the same as this unit. There are about a half dozen suppliers of this identical unit all branded differently, but it has the same guts inside. For $140 bucks you can't go wrong. Mine lasted about 5 years. I could spend $85 to replace the immersion heating element inside the stainless steel tank, but its so easy to disconnect the two hoses, unplug the power, lift up the unit off the wall-mount bracket and be done with it. It should take 1/2 hour. They are cheaply made, so buy two and put one in the garage for 5 years from now. They'll probably double in price; where are you going to get that kind of return for your money? Certainly not at Wells Fargo or Bank of America. Oh, the dripping and steaming another reviewer experienced means they had the thermostat set too high. NOTE: If you are going to go away for a while, unplug this unit...the tank is open to the atmosphere and 190 degree water will evaporate over time. The unit does have a thermostat so it will keep cycling on and off till all the water is gone and your immersion heating element burns out. Another reviewer experienced waiting a long time for the water to come out and low temperatures. This unit fills the tank from the bottom up. Hot water rises above cold water. When the tank is finally full, the overflow rises up the center tube and out of the sink fixture; if it takes a long time, that means it has been some time since it was last dispensed from and/or the thermostat is set high. Use a thermometer in a glass of dispensed water to check the temperature and adjust the temperature setting for 190 degrees.

Not as good at the unit it replaced
This is a replacement for the same item I purchased 4 years ago. You can't find the replacement heating element so you have to buy a whole new unit. This one 'boils over' and has air bubbles in the line if the temp is set to the highest setting. The old one didn't 'bubble' over. Not really in love with the fact that I have to spend $240 every 4 years for the convenience of instant hot water, but once you commit to the connection type, you can't easily change vendors.

Connection Difficulty
The quick disconnect fitting did not fit securely on the center tube of the tank. We are seeking a replacement at local plumbing suppliers. This is my 3rd tank and first time with this problem. Need to give a low grade because of this problem.

I love my instant hot water
I love my instant hot water. This is my second unit. The first one lasted about 8 years and then developed a leak. I suppose 8 years is sufficient and because it worked so well, I got the same one to replace the leaking one. I tried another brand first but it had just a hot option and my setup has both hot and unheated.

Leaked 1 day after install from bottom
Hooked up hot water tank to replace prior Everpure that died after 6 years. Connections on top were fine. Leaked from bottom 1 day after installation. Confirmed drain plug was secure. Thankfully had unit over safety pan and was alerted by leak detector alarm (Insteon) that I’ve had for years. It’s going back and looking for alternate product.
