DSC BV500GB PIR Motion Detector & Glassbreak Sensor

Works well with my dsc system ... easy to install

I used this to replace a glass break sensor, but once installed I decided to just use the motion sensor instead of the glassbreak and it works great!

I installed this in our basement near our egress window. It is perfect as it does both window breakage and motion. Makes wiring easier.

First of all, please note that I am an electronics technician by trade and am now retired after 42 years; as such, I regularly read schematics, wiring diagrams, designed circuits, and installed devices.Here are the problems I encountered with the DSC Bravo 5 GB (BV500GB):(refer to attached photos)(1) The circuit board and instructions don't match, in fact the 12-volt source terminals and relay contact terminals are actually reversed on the instructions! I WAS able to get the motion detector to provide a usable output by wiring according to the stenciling on the board.(2) I was able to verify that the glassbreak detector was working by using the test jumper scheme outlined in the instructions and the LED as an indicator (I used a 400 Hz tone through an amplifier and speaker). BUT - I was never able to get the glassbreak portion to provide any sort of usable output from the terminals (lots of trial and error).(3) The final blow is the absolute lack of customer support. Apparently, the only people who can contact DSC for technical support are those alarm companies that are duly registered with DSC.Therefore, I am returning the unit and seeking solutions from other companies.

Ease of installation.

You need 6 wires run (red & black = power, then you need a Hi & low for motion & hi & low for glass break= 6 leads) total if you want glass-break protection and motion off of same unit. Got false faults when I jumped the 2 circuits together even with EOL.
