I was very happy to find this item at this price; it is over $200 more at Home Depot and Lowes. I was looking for a 36 inch cooktop that would enable me to use 3 large pots at a time with room between each pot and this one fit the bill.Pros:pricefairly easy to cleanIf damaged, easy to replace with GE's easy fit system (not sure if that's what it's called but essentially it means that if it needs replacement you can easily remove it and pop in another of GE's cooktops in the same size without having counter issues.3 large burners, unlike other brands that only have 2Power boil, melt and keep warm features, along with 2 burners that you can use either the inner smaller burner or outer ring larger onechild lockcons:Plastic knobs look cheapgets dirty easily (but that's most glass cooktops)Pro and con:knob placement - easy to know which burner you are using (I find the side and rear placed knobs somewhat confusing at times), however, gets dirty easily from drips and spills

In this price range this is one of the only cooktops that features 5 full-function burners. (Most have only 4 full-function burners plus one "warming" burner.)The Rapid Boil burner does a great job of bringing temperature up fast.The surface is easy to clean and looks great when using a cooktop-specific cleaner such as Cerama Bryte.

It died almost exactly 2 yrs after install. Sure it was used every day but it should last longer than 2 yrs.

I bought this cooktop (or one exactly like it) from Home Depot. We have had it for about 8 months now. I love the special features on this cooktop. Power boil truly is able to boil even a large pot of water in half the usual time. A small pot, in about 1 minute. The melt feature is nice, but is slow since its designed to not scorch what's in the pan. Each burner has a different power rating, so it takes some practice to learn what heat setting to use on each burner. Overall, a great cooktop. My one compliant, is the work required to keep it clean. Even using the cleaner, razor and scrubber included we have marks that won't go away. We are very careful not to cook over a soiled burner, and bought new pans that wouldn't scratch. Still, we have a few small marks that won't clean up. Also, for this reason (my constant cleaning of cooktop) I'm wishing we would have purchased a knobless cooktop.Edited 1 year later.....We had a burner that blew out on us. Since we've had the cooktop in use since November 2015 the warranty had run out. Luckily, my husband is not afraid of a challenge and was knowledgeable enough to find the part that went bad and bought the replacement part for around $40. Our cooktop was out of use for about a week during this process. Before the burner blew, I had noticed the knob was harder to move and made a funny grinding noise. We now know it was a piece of metal that came loose. There is a good seal that won't allow food to get in the controls. We are hoping this was a one time thing.
