Perfect Replacement Part
I bought this part to replace the friction wheel that had been in my snowblower for 25 years. The installation is very challenging as the two washers and two bearing all have to align while connecting the axle to the sprocket. I thought it would take 15 minutes but it took 2 hours. Easy to get out but tough to get back in. I finally glued the washers to the housing so I had only 2 moving bearings.......not 4 moving parts.....to align. It went in quickly then. After all the assembly......it works perfectly. I watched numerous YouTube videos.....looked easy...... on this but it was a very challenging installation. Not for the faint of heart!!

Not a job for an amatuer by far
perfect fit. BIG PIA to change this. removing the hex shaft and trying to replace, along with cleaning the drive disk and not getting grease on it made this a chore. the part is perfect fit. However, I had no idea it would be such an onerous task to change this component. and if you wait to long, you need to change the drive disk at right angles to the friction wheel as when the rubber is all used up, there are groves on the drive disk. I was lucky that just this friction wheel was needed. My old one was 10 yrs old and still had some meat on it, however, there was tons of rubber particles on the snowblower underside plate. I needed a vice to get the screws out of the old friction wheel. It took me about 5 hrs to do this. I never got to the drive or auger belt yet. Trouble is that sears maintenance is about $140 to come to your house, but they wont do a friction wheel or belts. that is extra. So you are looking at over $200 for this, including oil change, spark plug, adjustment of cables,OY!And other small parts like screws and circlips are hugely expensive from sears parts direct (amazon does not have these parts, and home depot or lowes doesn't either. ) So if you strip a nut, or lose a circlip, you are looking at $20 but shipping.Personally, If I had to do this again, I would pay the Sears guy. the you tube videos are great but you need to be handy and have good mechanical ability. also take lots of pictures cause springs start flying and then (who knows where they connect to!)

Says oem part and I believe it
If it’s oem it would be in a Briggs and Stratton bag. Or any branding bag right? Has same stamping of “SB” as the original part. I’m going to call it original equipment. Seems to work well. Took me 30 mins for the install, however I’ve been into snowblowers before. I’d suggest watching an install video before you buy the part and start.

It's the OEM part.
Installation wasn't easy, but it wasn't difficult either. It's a good thing to get inside the gearbox so you can see what else is worn or needs to be lubed. Unfortunately, cracks are already developing on the rubber tire after only 4 to 6 hours use. They're small, but I didn't expect cracks so soon on a fresh wheel. Who knows how long ago this was manufactured? It's working fine, but now I have doubts about how long until I have to replace it again. Also note that Murray made snowblowers under a variety of different brands. I bought this for my Craftsman.

Brought my Ariens 524 back to life
Winter 2009-2010 I started having problem with my snow-thrower not always moving well under its own power. It still threw snow a long way, it just didn't drive its wheels consistently. Sometimes it would go quickly then stop, then go slowly. Often reverse did not work at all.I opened up the case of my snow-thrower (an Ariens 524 that I had purchased new in the fall of 2002) and it had a pile of little bits of rubber built up on bottom of the case. It was pretty easy to spot where they came from, my original friction wheel was down to bare metal in places.Removal and replacement was done in the fall of 2010 before a snowfall record setting winter. My snow thrower worked perfectly through many storms that dropped a foot or more of snow. The right part at a good price.

Exact replacement - works great!
I have a 22 year old craftsman 2-stage snow blower. It is track driven and has been very dependable over the years. Finally, the tracks began to stop turning intermittently, then stopped all-together this past year - very heavy snowfall winter in Michigan. After opening up the bottom cover, I noticed the rubber around the wheel was coming off the wheel. The replacement part was an exact fit and I was able to take it apart and put it back together with a couple wrenches and a screwdriver. Took about an hour to replace the wheel. It works great now - but the snow-blower is getting rusty - and several other parts are pretty warn. Will be buying a new snow-blower next year and give this one a well deserved rest!

works great
Not much fun to install be what a difference and running my snow blower. Should have replaced it sooner. Fit prefect and works great. Been only used a couple times so not sure how long it will last but seems to be well made.

Oem fit and function
My snowblower had lost all drive. Looking inside the original wheel was worn down. This wheel is both the clutch and like a gear in the transmission so you don't want an inferior part. I was pleasantly surprised to see oem part numbers, it matched up to the original part markings perfectly.Install wasn't terrible difficult on my machine but be sure you clean any rust from the steel disc the wheel rides on to get the best performance and life from the new wheel. My '92 sears tecumseh blower is back and working as well as ever!
