Very Powerful for a Portable
This Shop-Vac replaced a 2 gallon (HP unknown) Craftsman that I have been using for the last 12 years. What a difference! This actually lifts up the 8 x 12 foot rug in the foyer! We adopt senior dogs and our house has all tile floors, so a portable vacuum like this is much better than a roller type or a small car vac. You can do all types of things with one of these that are just impossible with a Shark, a Kirby or any other brand, like get dog hair off of a dog bed without sucking the dog bed up and having to turn off the vac or pull the item loose. Yesterday, this little machine sucked a full dryer sheet up without any slow down or hesitation, something that would have choked my old vac. Also, this is "dying bug season" in my area, which means thousands of flies, yellow jackets, stink bugs, lace wings, and Asian Lady Bugs (an unusual visitor this year) die every day, many of which take their last gasps in the house. This handy portable and powerful vac is perfect for cleaning house (pun intended). Window sills, sliding door bottoms, corners, behind hard to move items, anywhere a bug can get there to die you can get there to remove it. You just need to get near the bug and it is in the vac. My old vac would need to be on top of the bug, not just in the vicinity. And, if you choose the "clean 'em up now or clean 'em up later" approach, you can just suck them off the windows and walls while they are still alive and not have to wait until the next day. There is no way my old Craftsman could generate that kind of power. As with any of these type of vacuums, large or small, they do make noise. I strongly recommend hearing protection when using them, especially in enclosed spaces. Ear plugs or muffs, you should wear something to reduce the sound entering your ears. The attachments it comes with work well. I would have given it a 5 star rating, but it does not come with the "wand" type tubes that connect the hose to the attachment (I knew that when making the purchase), which provides the ability to stand upright while vacuuming, which, when you are doing a full 3 story home, is important. Fortunately, the old Craftsman attachments are the same size (1.25 inches) and made the transition to the new Shop-Vac that much easier.Overall, I am very pleased with the 2.5/2.5 Shop-Vac and would recommend that anyone who vacuums a lot once or twice a week get one. Not sure about everyday use in a commercial environment, but for our home, it's a perfect fit.

Nice little compact vacuum.
Bought this little vacuum to use inside the house for messes that are too big for the regular "upright" vacuum cleaner, but too small to warrant dragging the huge, full-size shop-vac in from the garage. Dragging the full-size shop-vac in from the garage is a full-sized pain in the rear end and generally results in the use of foul language as the long hose knocks something over, etc... This little vac is very easy to maneuver because of its small size and short hose.Suction is good - if you're expecting full-size shop-vac suction, you'll be disappointed, but I had no issues sucking up spilled cat food and small things like nuts and bolts that rolled under the computer desk. It is a good bit quieter than a full-size shop-vac, but it is loud enough that the cats still think its evil. (if you have cats, you know what I mean)Both the hose and the cord are fairly short. In my use of the unit, this is an advantage, as there is less cord and hose to get in my way. I may buy a little 6 foot-long extension cord to keep with it.Build quality seems a little flimsy. The carry handle seems thin and bends easily, as does the red "bucket" on the bottom that holds all the dirt. Perhaps it will be fine, but I'll only know in a couple of years if that perceived flimsiness turns into a broken vacuum.I like the fact that it uses a flat, paper filter held on by the black ring you see in the picture. I don't expect that I'll have any trouble finding replacements, unlike my Craftsman shop-vac that uses a canister filter. Sears stopped carrying the canister it requires, so right now I'm using it with a duct-taped-on canister meant for a different vacuum. It works fine, but when that vacuum dies, I won't buy another Craftsman!Bottom line, I'm happy - it does what I need it to do.

Small, a bit tippy, but sucks, and that's a good thing
I like the small size as I can set it on the floor or seat of the car when vacuuming. It does tip over easily, but it's small so it's easy to set up-right again.I wish it had a tool holder on the side, but I chose this vac for its power at 2.5. The 2.0 vacs had tool holders. Going to have to rig something up for the tools so they are handy to the vac. We've used it for wet and dry and my husband thought the suction was good for both pickups, but didn't think it held the amount specified for wet pickup. I am using a bag for the dry vacuuming just because I think it makes the exhaust cleaner. Plus, it's easier to switch the vac for a wet pickup.I like the size and power of this vac. The other issues are annoyances but I can live with them.

Great Performance from Hand-Held Shop-Vac!
This small hand-held Shop-Vac is perfect for cleaning automobile interiors and other small jobs around the house! The suction power is great compared to its compact size. The unit is hand-held and lightweight so it is easy to maneuver, but it is also easy to tip over when using as a dry vacuum which results in a loss of suction. The unit must be shut off and uprighted to allow the ball float to drop. This is a safety mechanism, but can be time-consuming and frustrating. With that being said, my previous hand-held Shop-Vac lasted for about 20 years and this one is essentially the same product.
