How much do they stretch? I need them for side and back moves for cardio.

There are three sizes. I use the mid-sized. Ihave large legs. How far they stretch depends on where you put - above knee on tighs or below knee on shins. Also the strenth of leg muscles. I would recommend these because of the various sizes available and they are stretch fabric rather than rubber strips. The rubber ones roll up on me and feel like turniquets

How long are the bands? Most are 12", which is too long for my needs

The Fit Simplify bands (set of 3) are 12-15 inches long before stretching them for resistance exercises. The longer band offer less resistance, the shorter ones more resistance.
