Not a tool, but a TOY :)
Is this a time consuming process... yes.I bought this for my husband who is a slurpee fanatic. It makes slurpees. He does this with our young son when we have an hour or so to kill. This is not a magical machine. You do not push a button and receive a slurpee. This is a hand crank, work for a while and get a Dixie cup of slurpee. It is fun and cute, and we leave it out in a corner of our kitchen so the world knows how much we as a family love slurpees. This has gotten awful reviews from people who think that they can spend a tiny bit of cash and get a miracle product. Horror of horrors you have to WASH IT AFTER YOU USE IT???? gasp. Don't be silly people. If you want an easy, enormous slurpee with no clean up?? then go to 7-11.

Terrible
I bought this because my son saw the commercial and begged Santa for it. We used this ONE TIME and it was awful. Obviously it's a toy so I didn't have high expectations (We're not baking souffles in an easy bake oven, right?) But the product is just junk. My first complaint is that it requires pulverized ice, not just crushed ice, or it's impossible to turn the crank. It's very messy and It leaks everywhere. The outcome is nothing like a surplee, just chunks of juice/soda. My kid was not happy and the process of making this wasn't fun for him at all. Save your money, save your kid the disappointment, and just buy them a surplee.

A little work and practice, but still turned out pretty good for a 5 year old.
I read all the other reviews on this, and it does take some work. I found that with a really cold drink, cranking slower and going in both directions and cranking for closer to 10 minutes really made a difference. I ended up with a nice coke slushy. It does leak liquid when you first pull the level, but the second time I used it I put it on a towel and when the drink was more frozen, it didn't make too much of a mess. My 5 year old loves it anyway, even if it isn't just like the store!

Bring on the Slurpee
My son received this as a Christmas gift and loves it. We have made them twice already and he shares. Keep in mind this is a toy. If you want Slurpee's like from the store you will need a REAL Slurpee machine. We actually put the cans of pop in the freezer 15 minutes before making them, so they are super cold. The only downside is you can not use DIET pop it must be sugar filled deliciousness. (No complaints from the kids.) I would recommend this to anyone who has kids or anyone that is still a kid at heart. Can't go wrong with a Slurpee every once in awhile.

Is cheap and works cheap
Save your money. This does not work!!! It is nothing more than a toy and will not produce any type of slurpee. We are VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Product was Used, not New as advertised
The Slurpee Maker was okay, but was difficult for a 7 year old to operate. However, my issue is that East Coast Discounters advertised it as new, but what I received was used. The Slurpee Maker I ordered was advertised as new. When received, it was evident that the item was used. The item's box was torn (the mailing box had no damage at all), the instructions had a footprint on them, there was no coupon for a free slurpee at 7/11 as advertised, straws were missing, pieces were unwrapped and used, part of the item was still assembled - probably because previous user was unable to disassemble without breaking. My grandson really wanted a Slurpee Maker for his birthday, and I didn't have time to shop around to find another one as I needed it the next day. However, I did find a store that had a Slurpee Maker. A person at the store opened the box and showed me how a new one was packaged and what should have been included.I requested a replacement coupon for the free slurpee. (I already bought new straws.) I also told East Coast Discounters that they should not advertise an item as "new" when it obviously is not. If I had had the time to go to the store and get another Slurpee Maker, I would have done so, and returned this one. As it was, I bought my grandson a second present, as I felt guilty giving him only a "recycled" gift. (Too late, I read other comments on Amazon where this was not the first time this type issue had occurred with East Coast Discounters.)When I told East Coast Discounters of my issue, they did refund my money and asked me to remove my comment, which I did as I planned to enter an updated one. I wanted to state how they had resolved the issue, however, they should not be selling items as new when they are used. Too late I realized that the only place for comments now was against the item itself, but that's where Amazon's Live Chat told me to put these comments.Sin

Great product
Yes, it has alot of parts, yes you have to wash them.....ok......but, if you do it right, your child will still love it. I enjoyed using this with my 5 year old daughter and she loved helping me. It doesn't come out exactly like you are at 7-11, but its more about the experience with your child in making it. I loved it and the washing doesn't matter to me.

terrible, with lots of small plastic parts
I'm an adult who has enjoyed slurpees, although it was a very long time ago. I was hoping for a sturdy machine that would be simple to use and put together. I didn't get either of these in this machine. In addition, the recommended ingredients include a soft drink with very high sugar content; you also have to add lots of salt and crushed ice to get it to work. There are so many easily breakable parts that I wouldn't recommend this to anyone under age six. Bad design all around. Use something like a smoothie maker or even a Vita Mix, so you can make something healthy instead.
