Schlage Electronic Keypad Deadbolt Lock, Camelot Trim, Bright Brass

I replaced one of the "digital" style locks on our rehearsal studio door with this. The old lock had teeny tiny plastic gears that had to move the deadbolt for you, after you entered the code. Boooo. Hell on the batteries, and the weatherstripping insulation, which, installed right, pushes gently on the door to create a seal, was too much for that tiny little motor; in order to operate the lock, users had to pull the door fully shut. Well, after about 20 failures of the old lock, I searched this one out, and couldn't be happier. The only thing the code does is release the deadbolt, which you then simply turn with your own hand. This is not a "digital" lock - no remote control or monitoring, no network, nothing fancy. It's truly the replacement for a key in a deadbolt, except you don't need to give out copies of the key, AND you can change the "key" (ie code) in like 2 minutes. Install was fairly quick - I'd say 15-20 minutes. A little bit fussy, but no problems if you read carefully. The only thing I struggled with at all was swapping the larger plate that came on the deadbolt with the in-line version (which came with, but not pre-installed); it took more force than I expected, and I was worried I might break something. Also - I love the fact that you need a code to open it, but you can lock it by simply pressing the "Schlage" button when you're leaving. Who needs a code to lock a door? Plus, when you do lock, there's a nice 3-5 second window when you can be like "oh, shoot, I left my XXX inside" and you can unlock again. All in all - a very practical, viable lock. Here's hoping it lasts!

We needed a lock on the entry door in our garage that didn't need a key. We like to lock the door when we leave but it's a pain to pull a key out of your pocket when you have two kids pulling on you or one on you. It's the same when you enter the house. We also have a cleaning crew that comes when we're not there, so we usually have to lease that door unlocked and let them through the garage. At first I was going to go with a smart lock that had some more features, but every one I looked at seemed to have one glaring problem (battery life, easy to break in, connection issues, etc.) And they're not cheap. This thing fit the bill (nothing more, nothing less), and at a good price. Easy to use, program, install, and the 9V battery should last up to 3 years before you need to replace it. The only thing I didn't realize is that I'd have to drill a bigger hole because the existing door wasn't bored at 2-1/8". If you have a drill, all you need is the DEWALT D180004 Bi-Metal Door Lock Installation Kit ($25). And make sure to to pre-drill holes for the long screws that go into the reinforced latch plate (I learned the hard way that those screws will strip). Anyway, this thing has been great. Super easy to lock and unlock without a key (and if you need a key, it comes with two - I just put them in a key-lock in the garage in case I need one).

We bought this lock so if emergency personnel need access to the house, we can relay a code to them without having to be physically present. The lock is sturdy and it's bright brass finish matched our existing hardware. The code setting process was clearly explained in the instruction sheet and was easily completed.

Really great product with a solid feel and a high-quality finish. I couldn't install it, however, since it smacked against my storm door handle, preventing the door from closing.

I had this model lock on my door for 10 years and the keypad finally started to give me trouble, so I ordered a new version. The box packaging was good and protected the finish on the lock. Since I was replacing a deadbolt, the requisite holes in the door and jamb were already there making my installation easy. Had I not already had a deadbolt, installation of the door latch and jamb catch would have been no different than for any other door. The programmability of the lock combinations is easy, and you can put more than one code on the lock. Be sure to remove the factory default codes (2 of them) if you set up your own codes. The keys light up with a blue background once you start entering your 4 digit code and the Schlage button will blink green if you get your code right. At night you can press the Schlage button to light up the keypad, avoiding having to guess the first digit in the dark.

Purchased August 2024 due to prior lock (came with house) failing to unlock when turned (outside turning point just spins), seriously problem since it results in being locked out of your home. 21 months into owning this lock it has started failing in exactly the same way. Garbage in garbage out - I will be replacing this with a more expensive brand.

Excellent product, slight difficulty in aligning screws

When I ordered my first Keyless Entry Code it was used, so I returned the package and was immediately sent out a replacement on the next business day. I didn’t do the set up the same day until yesterday, which was 2 to 3 days later, however, the key knob kept turning with the key and would did not unlock or lock , and I followed the example to a T and it still did not work. I’ve then proceeded to do a second return, and then I got a message that says “ How can we make this right,” so there were options recommended to contact support, watch a video, and etc) so I chose to watch the video. I decided to uninstall and start over by following the video and it turned out that I indeed had missed a step. After the set-up was completed, and I created my own personal Keyless Entry Code the door would not lock after entering the code, but the code was working. To my surprise, it turned out that when the door tried to lock after entering the code, the lock was hidden against the plate on the side of the door post when you lock your door so now I have to get someone to come in to fix that issue, but other than that if you follow the video, everything will work out fine. I am 100% satisfied with the results that I took the time to watch the video carefully to complete the installation. I’m glad that I did not give up and I kept trying and it was worth the trouble. 👍🏾👍🏾 that Plate was the problem and this was caused after I had my front door replaced years ago with a new door, so the issue was on my end. However, my experience was still amazing to me because I found out what the exact problem was , it was worth watching the video examining on my end to figure out what the exact issue was and why the code did not work after I said the code to lock the door. Try resetting the code again and come to realize and after watching the video a few times more , once you enter your four digit pin number that you create for yourself then you have to turn the knob/the key knob after intern your code to lock the door and then you repeat the same steps when unlocking the door. I'm a big Schlage fan and this deadbolt is the BEST! Amazon only makes it better with a hefty discount! When I was young we had a similar Schlage product but there have been significant improvements since then. The main difference being that the battery life is significantly longer (I haven't changed the battery in over a year). The battery lasts so much longer because the battery is only used to initiate the lock - and you physically twist the key knob to move the deadbolt. Physically twisting the knob gives it a more professional feel. Total install took 20 mins by myself. After installing this for my apartment, my neighbours couldn't help by stop and talk about my deadbolt. I also use an intercom for the front door - so I truly have "keyless entry". 2 of my neighbours now have the same passage lever and deadbolt! This also worked very well when I had tradesmen coming in to do work, I created a temporary code and deleted after they finished. This took all of 2 minutes and was SO EASY! 1 year later, this thing still makes me smile every time I come home. I ended up getting the matching deadbolt and passage lever Schlage B60N505 Deadbolt, Keyed 1 Side, Bright Brass & Schlage F10ACC605 Accent Passage Lever, Bright Brass I'm now looking to sell my place and this adds a professional finish and look before even entering the apartment - a great primer!

Purchased this Schlage unit to replace an older electronic deadbolt that had become really difficult to operate. I chose this particular one after much research as there are so many options on the market. I needed something that was reliable and easy to use without being overly expensive. This deadbolt was super easy to install. Directions were clear and it was easy to program. I think the whole process only took 20 minutes. It works great! I especially like that you have to actually turn a lever to ensure the unit is locked or unlocked. We have another different brand on the garage that uses a motor to open and close the deadbolt, and it often struggles - especially when it's really cold. this one is not problem. So smooth! I'd definitely buy this product again.

Best purchase ever! This lock has been amazing! It was SOOOOO EASY to install. It took me only about 30 minutes. It looks super nice and is easy to use. The only thing that was a little confusing was sometimes you have to try a few times to open it before it works. I had to read the instructions to program it. Now I have multiple people using different codes to enter my house and I love that. I would 100% recommend this.
