Owned 6 different brands of printers and this is by far the best.
I did not purchase these printers on Amazon. I do own 4 of them, two set up in my office, and two that I use to for clients. As a university engineering student who does high output printing, these printers are amazing. To start, you can begin prints right out of the box and there is very little calibration needed. Each printer has over 80 print hours with the most used one having an excess of 170 hours of use. I have been able to print PLA, Nylon, and carbon fibre infused PLA out of these machines. I would not recommend it unless the user is informed on how 3D printers work. The accuracy and finish quality is comparable to printers that are selling in the upper $800 range.Pros:Reliable printsGood finish qualityEasy to use out of the boxRemovable print bed for hassle free print removalHigh quality XYZ axis rails (Same brand rails used on industrial CNC machines)Cons:Spool shelf is useless for anything larger than 600g spoolsLCD can glitch randomly (does not effect printing)Software can be clunky in comparison to open source softwareOverall, I would highly recommend this printer to anyone. After owning 4 of them that are still in use, they have exceeded my Davinci XYZ printer, makerbot, and flashforge printers.

There's a learning curve with any 3D printer.
This is our first 3D printer. I got it for my 11 year old and I was drawn to all of the reviews that mentioned how quickly it would up up-and-running. 4 stars is admittedly an arbitrary rating because I had no expectations other than Youtube videos when ordering it. It performs very well compared to some of the similarly priced models I saw on Youtube. Our first print didn't turn out very well -- filament will not stick to this platform. The quick start guide didn't mention any pre-print setup. I knew from research that we'd need to coat the platform in "something". Hairspray didn't work. We finally got it working with Elmer's glue sticks applied liberally just before printing starts. From that point on, we were printing flat prints. The print quality is better than most of the cheaper machines I've seen on Youtube. We did some of the sample files that came with it with fairly good results. We also printed some things that we had designed in Autodesk's software with good results as well as a couple of models my son found on Thingiverse. That being said, there are some things that 3D printers just don't do well. I tried to print 8mm wide x 20 mm tall cylinders -- that's a no-go. We are behind the learning curve for 3D printing and I'm not going to blame the machine for that. The hardware is solid. It's hefty. Like everyone else, my only complaint is software. The slicing software that comes bundled is pretty bad. On one of the models we designed, the G-Code went off the rails after 6 hours of printing and started building the next layer about 2 cm in front of where it should have gone. We let it run for a few minutes just to see what would happen and we ended up with a bird's nest of wasted filament. I'm pretty sure it's the software because the GSD models they sent seem to have been vetted to ensure success.I've been unable to keep the slicing software running in Windows 10. It installed and ran but crashed in the middle of a model. Now, when I run it on a Windows 10 machine, I get a splash screen and then it crashes. Windows troubleshooter says it's incompatible. I installed in a Win 7 machine and it runs well. It's a little inconvenient to build the models in Windows 10, transfer them to a Win 7 machine to slice, put them on an SD card, then feed the printer.Keep it away from pets. The T-Rex head in the photo was knocked off the build platform by a cat after 4 hours of work. The machine looks like it should be enclosed but it's not. It's no big deal to change the location. A decent sized build can take between 4 and 6 hours to complete; do not let pets, children, grandparents, or the neighbor's kid near it while it's printing. I generally "push play" at bedtime and wake up to a completed model. And right now, you're asking yourself why I gave it 4 stars with all of the above complaints. It's a relative 4-stars. The hardware is 4 star, maybe 5 in this price range. We researched these things for months. The software is the problem and it's replaceable. I have seen the output of comparably priced machines and it ain't always pretty. I saw another reviewer say that it's $800 output for half the price. I agree. The prints we've gotten are extremely smooth and precise. I've calipered holes that we printed into things and they are spot-on.I'm pleased with the purchase and I do believe I got a lot of bang for the buck.

Limited Usability, Horrible Software
This thing is very misleading in its advertisement. They boast "You can print straight out of the box!!" and what they don't tell you is, you have to print THEIR files. If you try to throw a 3D print g code file at this thing without using THEIR really crappy broken english software that only runs on Windows 7. You can forget it. They use their own version of G-code , so there no way to use 3rd party slicers etc with this thing. I returned it due to it's crappy software and limited usability . When it does print, It prints very nice and clean. Very detailed as well. It's loud, but does a good job when it actually starts printing. However, just like I said before, It's usability is very limited due to locking it into using only their software, which is very poorly designed.

Not the "newest"
I received the 3D printer quickly, and it was really easy to get started. However, it was not the "newest" model, I even had to update the firmware to the latest this model supported. Also, the control board fried itself after about a month. I am currently in contact with tech support, and will update my review.Update 5/18/17: The Shining folks were limited in their ability to send a replacement, but Amazon picked up the slack. I received another and it is a newer model. I opened it up and found that the newer model has some good sized heatsinks on the motor control chips. This was clearly a needed improvement.A word of warning; if you have model V0203 or lower, be careful with long prints and ambient temperature.
