It do good job.
I need replace JOBY GorillaPod 3K ball head to accept Acra style QR plate for Peak Design Capture. I don’t need JOBY GorillaPod 5K for mirrorless camera. KAKAFOTO do good work. It is low profile The knob is lock well. The knob can change position avoid touch camera, except QR knob. It had 2 pan on this head. One is on the top QR with knob. Other one on the bottom (normal) lock with main knob. I didn’t disassemble it. It look like all metal. It have 3 small issues.1) The pan on the bottom is request more force to lock. When you feel the ball is locked. The pan is not lock yet. You need half turn more to lock the pan.2) It is not safe release for QR. If you unlock QR. It is easy fall down. Please be careful.3) If you use low profile QR as Peak Design Capture camera clip standard plate. The QR lock with touch bottom of camera. (Can QR knob redesign like other 2 knobs?)Attached picture to compare big ball heads. BTW, I didn’t test load. I don’t believe it have load 55 lb. Either my big ball heads can’t load 50 lb. I use my big ball head to load mid-format camera.

Solid Ball Head
I was looking for a ball head that I could use on my GorillaPod 3k that would accept the arca swiss plate that I'll be using for the Peak Design Capture Clip, and this fits the criteria well! Because I had broken the ball head of a cheap portable mini tripod, I slightly overcompensated and opted for the metal version of this Kakafoto product, which at 13oz is relatively hefty. However, it feels indestructible. The finish and the degree markings also make this feel premium. There are locking mechanisms for every axis you want to orient the camera on the tripod. I'm using it with a Sony a7iii, and while I would say that while the metal version of this is excessive for what I need (since I highly doubt I'll load it anywhere close to the 55lb rated weight), I will gladly keep it.

Disappointed. Can't Recommend
Slightly wobbly at the base, even after tightening all the locks. It's small and compact, but I can't recommend it.
