Straight to the point
Seemed to work very well, so throughput issues I could tell, though I couldn't find any good benchmark to test other than copying some files and folders off old DVDs and CDs. Copied fairly swift with no issues. The eject button is a nice touch. I am often travelling when people need random computer help and so it's convenient to have an optical device that packs down small for troubleshooting. I use with with an Apple SuperDrive I salvaged from a MacbookPro. Works fine.

Nimitz USB 3.0 to 7+6 13pin is a perfect fit for a Lenovo ultrabay device
The Nimitz USB 3.0 to 7+6 is an extremely handy way to use a Lenovo Ultrabay device as a USB 3.0 external device. The eject button is handy when working with a DVD/CD drive, but the cable will also work if you have the secondary drive UltraBay device. Useful for swapping or replacing hard drives when you also need a CD for the transfer software.

Re-use your internal optical drive
Works great! Took the optical drive out of my mid-2012 macBook Pro and replaced it with an additional SSD drive. Now I can still use my optical drive -- it even recognizes the drive if I plug it in after my laptop is already running. I don't even bother w/ an enclosure (but I also don't carry the optical drive around as I rarely use it).

No Frills, Works Well But User Interface Could Use Some Tweaks
Excellent no frills tool to convert a recycled laptop's slimline SATA DVD drive into USB. Due to the power draw of a drive's mechanisms, USB 2.0 does not provide adequate current over a single port to power the drive and concurrently, it will fail to read discs.USB 3.0 is necessary to use this drive but it does allow one to cut down on cabling using a single USB 3.0 cable rather than a USB 2.0 splitter or a wall plug.My only two gripes are below:-When the drive fails to negotiate USB 3.0, the connector will still light up as normal and the drive will show up in Windows, while still of course failing to start the drive motor. There is no clear communication it could not negotiate USB 3.0 through, for example, a yellow LED on the connector.-A bare drive taken out of a laptop doesn't have enough weight to brace itself when drives spin at their maximum speed, the vibrations are so strong a drive will move itself across a surface, I would appreciate if the connector came with 4 feet to keep still a connected drive.

Not much to look at, but a valuable tool!
Its an indispensable tool if you have some SATA optical drives lying about. Makes for a cheap portable drive for a netbook/macbook air. Having one of these sitting next to your laptop with an internal drive hanging off of it is nothing to look at, but it sure is functional.

Will not work
Not sure why but just will not work on my optical drive from MacBook Pro. Will not eject or play.

Product delivered not as specified
Bought from CHEN YANG.Negative: Cable not as described. NO eject button. NOT a branded Nimitz cable, but an unbranded generic cable. USB connector flat style (already warped) as compared to the Nimitz elliptical sleeve shown.Positive: The cd/dvd connector is a TIGHT fit, not loose, which is good. Came in 2 weeks, not the minimum 3.5 weeks when ordered. It does connect to a Lenovo Thinkpad DVD/CD drive externally, freeing up the 2nd drive bay.Unknown: whether or not it truly delivers usb3 speed, cannot say. Longevity, cannot say, but the warping usb connector cause for concern. Will keep as it's not worth returning, but will only use at home, not on the road.An eject button is certainly not required, windows explorer eject works. So it does work, it's just a "standard" cable, not an "enhanced" cable.
