Works perfect just no instruction
The sharpener is pretty nice. It works as advertised. I used it on my snowboard and skis. It's definitely the lowest price one that I have found. My only gripe would be that there's no instructions. I know there's a video to watch but even the video doesn't really show that much it shows how to do it but it doesn't show up close what sides to use and when to use it. Outside of no instructions it works perfect. OneNote make sure your wax is all cleaned off the edges so the file does not get clogged up with wax if he just finished waxing your base. Or sharpen prior to waxing.

Great reasonable edge tuner.
Pretty nice item, I purchased some used xc metal edge skis that were mint condition but unfortunately had rust all over the edges, I tried sanding and even a file to remove rust, while the file helped I didn't want to damage the edges since I noticed I was dulling them- that's how I ended up looking for edge tools. This tool was perfect and easy to use now my edges are rust free and sharp, I also learned to dry skis off right away to prevent rust from forming again..ProsEasy to useHas an arrow on the file showing the direction to sharpen / tuneThe file can be slid up or down in the plastic holder (if you needed to adjust how far the file sticks out, useful for the base edge)88 degree angle or 90 degree angletwo sided file - a rough bumpy side for removing rust or other defects, the smooth side is actually the file that sharpensPrice is greatNeutralAt first it is kind-of confusing with the angle, it is clearly marked but it doesn't say if the marked side should be facing down or up (I asked a few friends and they all came up with different answers, so I'm not the only one? ), I know they have a video posted that was helpful, but it was too dark to clearly see the angles they used (what was facing up or down...etc).ConsNo instructions.

Kinda gimmicky, poor instructions
Under the best of circumstances this edge tuner would receive 4 starts. For the price you cannot expect much, but the whole 90/88 degree thing is gimmicky. There is so much slop in the positioning of the file, especially on the top edge, that you are almost better off doing it by hand. The side edge is better but still any claim to 1 degree or 2 degree precision is completely unsubstantiated. I am knocking an additional star off due to the omission of essential information in the instructions. ALL files are uni-directional, and the one supplied with the unit is no exception. When you mount the file in the holder you need to look for a little arrow stamped on the side to determine the preferred direction of motion, otherwise you are not doing much if you are pushing in the other direction. This is not noted in the instructions. Ideally the design should have included some means of making the file insert possible only in a single orientation, with a large arrow molded in the plastic handle to indicate the required direction of motion.

Limited Use Tool.
Good tool for tuning the sides of my ski edges but a bit of a challenge for the base edge. While tuning the side edges, the edge tool rests flat against the base of the ski so you know your getting a "stable" run over the side edges. However, on the base edge, the tuner has a much narrower platform in which to perform the tuning and found it was not as stable tuning the base edge. In fact, it produced gouges along the base of my ski. I'll still use to tune my side edges but will probably limit the amount of tuning I do to the base edge.

Good value tuner
I had initial reservations regarding the accuracy of the angles on this edge tuner. While I don't possess professional tools for verification, I improvised with a paper test against a bright light. I'm pleasantly surprised to report that the angles appear to be accurate. In a blind test, I consistently distinguished between the 88 and 90-degree surfaces. However, a word of caution: the included file might not be the best for tuning. For enhanced results, I recommend looking into high-quality diamond inserts. Ensure you opt for the standard 70mm size.

Great sharpener for the price!
A great little pocket sharpener! Will it replace the machine sharpener at a shop? No. But when those edges start getting dull and you start to feel it on the icy spots, this will do the job without the hassle and expense of going to a shop. So get that pro tuneup before the season and use this for maintenance. Just make sure to read the instructions or watch a demo on YouTube. Also be sure to use the correct angle for the bottom and sides.

Small size, big performance
The mini edge tuner is a great tool for those looking to do basic edge tuning for their snowboard/skis at home. It is easy to set up and use, and unless you're looking for a highly professional, competition level finish, it gets the job done flawlessly. The file has two sides: a smoother side to correct minor burrs and a rougher side to really scrape off material.I used the rough side to remove patches of rust from an old snowboard followed by a few passes with the smoother side for a nice finish. The edges are now at an acceptable state and it was really cheap too.In conclusion, I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for affordable tuning equipment.

Almost 5 stars
This little hand tuner works great for your edges, but there's no guide for the base edge so you're better off leaving then alone than risk messing them up. Would have been 5 stars if they hadn't tried to advertise it as a base tuner as well.
