VHT SP187-6PK High Temperature Wheel Paint – Gloss Black Spray Paint - 11 oz Aerosol Can, 6-Pack

Honestly I was skeptical about painting my wheels but they were just so faded out and basically down to the aluminum. I just got my car wrapped so I wanted black wheels and powder coating that was going to cost like $1,000. I prepped and sanded and used a self-etching primer and then two coats of this. They look amazing! Everyone keeps complimenting them and thinks that I got them professionally done. I don't even want to admit that it only cost me $30 to do. What a deal! It goes on evenly as long as you use the correct sweeping motion. The coverage was great with two coats. Super easy to apply. Fantastic value. Really happy with this.

Painted the OEM wheels on a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road three years ago and there are zero chips, peals or damage of any kind. This truck goes everywhere: pavement, gravel, dirt. Prep was light sanding and thorough cleaning. Base coat of Rust-Oleum self etching primer, two color coats and three weeks of drying. Don't know that three weeks are necessary, but I was waiting on tires before playing wheel swap again. Worked so well, I'm doing it to a 2003 Toyota Sequoia big-brake wheel swap next.

Painted my wheels and the color is nice! A little lighter than I thought but it looks great, and close to OEM for my waffle wheels. Held up great under conditions, no chips.

Really excellent paint. Used it to refinish the wheels on my Tacoma pickup. They look beautiful and after three months still look as good as the day I repainted them. But remember anyone can blow paint onto something. That is not what makes for a great end result. It's the preparation that makes the difference so follow the instructions and make sure the wheels are sanded, if needed, and are clean. I was buying new tires and the tire dealer worked with me. I placed the truck on four jack stands and the tire dealer removed all the old tires at no additional charge as they had to do that anyway. I took the bare wheels home and after wet sanding them with 80, 120, and 320 grit wet or dry sandpaper, I washed them and then used Denatured alcohol and micro fiber rags from Dollar General to remove any residue or film and then painted them. Three light coats on each wheel. I bought four cans and used three full cans on all four wheels. The paint seemed to have more pigment than normal spray can, or aerosol can paint. It covered well and if you use light coats, around 10-12 inches away, the paint did not run. I did have a run when I became a little impatient but I flipped the wheel up so the paint would run the other way and was able to even out the run. Then added additional coats at the time stated on the can. The entire job took two days.

The color of the wheels on my vehicle needed to be changed into something a bit more aesthetically pleasing and VHT came highly recommended. Scuffing the wheels and then a thorough cleaning before spraying gave wonderful adhesion. Allowing the paint to set overnight seemed to work well as the vehicle was then driven w/o any issues with the paint. The paint has stood up to everyday wear and tear though it did get a bit nicked when having new tires installed but that was easily corrected with a few passes of the rattle-can. A quick spray with the hose and this looks as fresh as can be. Could a cheaper can of spray work? I don't want to find out. The VHT did what it was supposed to do in an easy and timely manner.

Great match for my f350 trim panels. Seems to be more durable.

I used VHT Paint System - (Primer, Satin Black, and Clear) to restore my motorcycle wheels which had over 100,000 miles on them and looked pretty beat up. I really like working with VHT spray paint and is my first choice for a number of different applications from brake parts to engine blocks. So when I was looking for paint to restore my wheels, I turned to VHT. This paint spray nicely - and dries to the touch in 30 minutes. They suggest two light coats followed by one medium coat allowing 10 minutes in between coats. All coats should be applied within 1 hour. Any additional coats after the one hour - you need to wait 7 days for the paint to cure. This is about the only spray paint I have found that you can actually use rubbing compound to polish out the final coat and achieve a really smooth, glossy surface. My wheels look like brand new :)

Have used VHT wheel paint before and it holds up well and looks good. Whereas the VHT Argent paint is a smooth finish, the Rally finish is metallic, just like the Chevy wheels and the inner portion of my 18 inch Sierra wheels. Because of the metallic rough finish you will want to clear coat them. I cleaned up the corrosion and than sanded everything with 220 sandpaper to give some bite. I also use NAPA self-etching primer on the bare metal. I didn't try to duplicate the original two-tone appearance, simply painted the whole wheel with the Rally and they look sharp. UPDATE: Painted wheels with winter tires just went through a Vermont winter with all our road salt. Wheels look just as they did after I painted them. No corrosion, flakes scratches or any other damage. Tires held air the best ever. (I sanded and lightly painted the bead area as the corrosion was causing them to lose air like crazy. No bead seal needed anymore. And yes real winter tires do make a difference!
