Dexter Bowling - Mens - SST 8

Because of physical issues I had to switch to the opposite hand so I needed shoes for the opposite slide foot. I had bought a pair of SST 8's many years ago and used them hard. Loved them so much I didn't hesitate on buying another pair because of the quality and because of the interchangeable soles and heels can be used on either foot. These were a tad stiff but they broke in within a few games and now they are just as comfortable as the first pair. Really love them !!!

I just received the SST 8's the other day. I normally wear a size 9D shoe but when I researched this bowling shoe, one bowling site noted that the SST 8's run about a half size large. Other sites didn't mention that fact. However, I also wrote to an online pro shop and visited a local bowling alley and was told these shoes were true to size. But then, I saw a chart that showed all the different shoes Dexter made and the SST 8's were wider and longer than the other Dexter models. I knew I could pay the extra money and get a “perfect fit” option most of the bowling websites offered but I didn't want the hassle of sending them back and waiting for the new ones to arrive but had little choice. Luckily, another local bowling alley that we bought our balls and accessories from just happened to have a 9-1/2 that one of their customers had ordered and he let me try them on. There must have been close to an inch of space between my toe and the front of the shoe. They were also a bit too wide for my comfort. Now, I had a better idea of how they fit and decided that a size 9 would still be too big so I took a chance, went online, and ordered a size 8-1/2. When they arrived, I tried them on and they fit perfectly! Probably about 3/8” space in the toe area and the width was very acceptable.The sliding shoe comes with an S8 sole and and H5 saw tooth heel. Upon doing some test slides on the approach, I came to an abrupt halt and it was obvious I needed to make some changes. My throwing style requires me to slide a little (but not too much) to the foul line so I swapped out the S8 sole for the S10 and H5 heel for the H7. Big, big difference! Not exactly what I was looking for but pretty close. I'm thinking of getting the S9 sole and maybe the H6 heel to fine tune my slide.The shoe, itself, is very comfortable with a nicely padded insole and the leather upper is a little stiff at first but shouldn't take long to break in. It didn't affect my bowling, however. My old pair were 20 year old Brunswicks and I desperately needed to replace them. The SST 8's are a HUGE improvement over my old shoes and am extremely happy with them. Hopefully, I'll get many good years of use from them. Other reviewers have reported the soles on the traction side break in half. Only time will tell if mine will do the same thing but hopefully not.

These took care of the slide problems I was having in my other lesser quality bowling shoes. I like the idea of being able to change out the pads using the included velcro fastener system, but haven't done anything other than use the stock medium pads. Now I can rule out poor shoes in my quest to improve my bowling.

These shoes are the best. Don't waste your time with anything else if you want an excellent shoe that allows you not only great style but a completely swapable sole system to get your footing perfect on any floor type.

Purchase these March 2017 they are stiff hard to break in I used to compliment these shoes but now November 1st I found out that the right shoe the velcro won't stick in the front as most of you have reported and my left shoe the slide the velcro completely came off the soul, Center 1' 1/2" lengths all the way across the soul these are now turning out to be defective shoes and consistent with most of the comments on the rest of the reviews I have read I have added photos you can see the velcro is missing in the center of the solar across it and my other Soul where the velcro does not stick

This was for my in laws and they are very impressed for the price.

I had shoes that are now almost 4 years old and have been twice been in water, so I was in need of a new pare of shoes. So far the fit is great and can't wait to work them in.

Love those shoes and paid an excellent price. The delivery was very good.
