Easy to Use, Great Gift Idea
I just love these Scotch Rocks Silicone Ice Ball Molds. They make large ice balls that are perfect for chilling scotch without watering it down too much. Unlike another set of Ice Ball Molds I've used, these have a very helpful fill-line indicator that tell you how much water to add to ensure that you have a perfect ice ball as the water freezes and expands. The ice balls are easy to remove from these molds. The molds themselves are quite durable. They also come in nice packaging. These would make a great gift for a scotch drinker.I did contact Scotch Rocks to have one replaced because one of the molds was a little loose and leaked. They were very fast to reply and replaced the mold promptly. I would recommend these to anyone. One helpful tip I found is to fill them at room temperature; don't fill them right away after taking them out of the freezer.

Works well, but sometimes leaks a little
Makes iceballs as advertised. Sometimes, when you hold the filled mold to close to the seam, it starts leaking. You need to hold it closer to the bottom so you do not distort the seem. I have not figured out how to get the clear balls as they have in the bars. Mine are very cloudy, or filled with fractures somehow. Maybe it;s the water.

Eye catching, Pretty Cool - Yes. Effective? Not Really
I bought a set of these for me and a set for a friend as a gift around Christmas. I was goofily excited about using them in a drink, and didn't waste time filling them with water and put them right into the freezer. The first few times, I wa pretty excited about these. They are easy to use, they do look cool in the glass, and it made sipping a stiff drink seem a little more refined somehow. After a while though, I began to realize that they really don't make a good ice ball for drinks like the ones you hear about in higher end scotch bars. When the ice balls come out (am I saying balls a lot?), they are cloudy and almost always have a crack right through the ball from one side to another. This crack makes what would be a slow melting ball into two semi-slow melting half balls (no offense, Lance). Within the first few minutes, the ball splits in half and the two pieces that are left begin to melt at an accelerated rate. After doing some digging, I found out that the real ice balls are made from larger blocks of ice that are pressed into balls by a mold. This process eliminates the cracks and the air bubbles/cloudiness you'll find when you use these. Apparently, the slower you melt water, the less bubbles/cracks you can expect (like an icicle). In order to make these more effective, you would have to place these molds into a larger container of water so that they would melt slower as part of a larger block of ice.If that sounds like too much work to you, than you and I are on the same page. I may use them again on occaission, but I really think you're better off freezing a bunch of water in the bottom of a Solo cup, and using that.

Works perfectly for round, solid, ice balls
These work amazingly well. They are easy to use, water doesn't leak, the ice comes out easily, round and pretty. The ball molds are incredibly well designed:you fill from the top hole, which has little grey lines on the top to help you tell when to stop filling it and avoid water leaking out as it expandsthe hole also allows the air to leave while the water expands as it freezesthe two halves seal together well and no water leakswhen frozen, you just take off the top, press the middle of the bottom, and the ball pops out easily and gentlythe bottom is thicker than anywhere else, so the mold has a slightly rigid structure. Still flexible, but no wiggling around when the ball is fullthe top of the ball sometimes comes out a little flat, but not muchthe ball is nice and solid, it doesn't fracturethe ball fits well into glassesthe molds are very easy to clean

Great molds for larger ice balls
I bought these larger molds after getting some of the black silicone 4x molds that make 2" balls. I like the smaller 2" balls for making flavor balls to drop in tequila or vodka (limeaid, OJ, cranberry, etc) but wanted the really large ones for plain ice in drinks. These molds are well constructed and come in nice packaging so would make a great $10 gift and I really like the large 2.5" balls. As far as the resulting ice balls go, I find it's hard to get them to form without large cracks in them. It's been about 50/50 getting non-cracked vs. balls with the crack in them. It seems that when filled to the line, the frozen ball fills up the mold completely and causes the crack. When i under-fill they come out without cracks but have a small flat surface on top. In any case, I'm happy with the size of the ball produced and at the end of the day it's just ice, so I'm not terribly disappointed by the cracking and they're fun to have.

Great product and easy to use.
With these Scotch Rocks Ice Ball Molds, I'm creating "clear" 2.5" ice spheres using a downward freezing technique. Little bit of a learning curve involved, but with some practice the end result is now quite outstanding. I would recommend these Scotch Rock Molds because they are easy to use (in both filling the water and extracting the finished ice ball). Very classy in my glass of single malt scotch, rye whiskey or bourbon. Nice packaging too.

So so
Easy enough to use, and easy to remove from the mold....but the actual ice ball has a seam which split the ball in half eventually. :( photo is after 1 drink.
