I'll start with the most important thing -- make sure you always stick to companies like SCHLAGE or Kwikset because these two produce residential locks with ANSI and BHMA certifications (Grade 2 which is one certification closer to Commercial grading). Everything else Made in ... you see all over the Internet does NOT carry such certifications. It's very important if you're looking for a true safe lock.Make sure you buy this lock knowing that it's designed for certain type of applications which is a door that you want to me sure remains LOCKED when accessed from outside using the keypad but remains always UNLOCKED from inside the room/enclosure (the other side of the door).We have a breezeway which has a door opening into the garage. I wanted that door to be always locked but didn't want to use a "key" every time I needed to go inside the garage to get something. This lock is perfect for it. It keeps the door locked as it locks up automatically after only 5 seconds after using the keypad to unlock it. It's quiet. There's no "deadbolt" to move in and out. It only "click" quietly allowing the outside handle to open the lock, and it locks automatically after 5 seconds. The inside handle will always remain unlocked, which allows the user to open the door from inside without any issues, then close it behind them and not have to worry about it.It lights up. The buttons are perfect. Nice layout. Intuitive even when in complete darkness. You'll never fumble for the "light" button once you use the keypad once or twice. Easy to punch in the codes. Four digit codes. Very easy to program. You can only program the codes and the master code (the master code is needed to program the individual entire codes, so make sure if you change it from the default one, that you DO NOT misplace it or forget it somehow because you will not be able to program anything without it!).The 5 second automatic locking timer cannot be changed or paused. At least, at this point, this is what I think based on what I read and researched on the company's website. It doesn't bother me at all as I think, the type of application this lock was made for, having an auto locking timer is essential. Even if there was a way to change it, I wouldn't have done it.Super easy to install. Clear and concise instructions. Comes with everything you need. It covers every possible install situation (type of door, etc).It does include a 9V battery. Battery lasts a few good years (as per reviews and product instructions). Swapping the old battery out (when needed) will include taking the main (keypad) unit off and putting it back again, as in with first time installing the unit. Very simple thing to do, as they're only 2 long screws very easily accessed and easily dealt with.The entire unit is made of heavy duty metal. The only thing plastic is the individual keys on the keypad. Very sturdy unit. Beautiful design. Simple but very nicely thought out.Comes with a single key (which is nice, just in case something goes wrong with the electronics). It's not a re-keyable system but you can make more copies of that one included key (if needed).Overall, I'm very happy with it. Nice unit. The price was nice. I love the simplicity yet the sturdiness of it. A great purchase. Three year warranty and lifetime on the mechanical/finish.

Easy to assemble and useWorks great

Due to fire codes, we needed a door handle that would be locked from the outside, but remain unlocked from the inside for an exit. The staff uses it to come into the building. This fit the bill. In the past, we had the model that didn't auto lock to secure areas the public wasn't allowed (Flex Lock FE595). We've used those for over a year & the original 9V battery is still in them. Those locks work great & this is a version of that one. They look identical from the outside. They are heavy duty typical Schlage locks. The lock is easy to program & install. If you can turn a screwdriver, you can probably install this. The only problem I had, was the illustration shows the battery wire coming from the top of the lock. It doesn't, the wire is in the battery compartment. Like others have said, the battery is in the outside unit, so you have to take it apart to replace the battery. For our use, I actually like this better, because no one can easily take the battery out. The door handle works silky-smooth. When used from the outside keypad, you have a few seconds before it auto locks. The only down side is that it comes with only 1 key. It came with a Duracell 9V. We got the Aged Bronze, Accent Lever, Camelot Trim. To me, it looks black with a bronze accent. You can program up to 19 four digit codes, so not everyone has to learn a new code when someone quits. If you only give out the code, you don't have to have it rekeyed when someone leaves. I highly recommend this lock.

We have a door that the whole family uses on a daily bases and my wife insists that the doors to the house have to be locked all the time so the lock on that door gets a lot of use. Needless to say the lock was just about worn out and you could hear every time someone was coming in as they had to wiggle the key in the lock for 10-15 seconds before it would open. I talked to my wife a few times about getting one of these and she was against it for some reason.......I saw this one morning on Amazon in the 'deal' section at a great price (I looked at them before and most were over $110!) and decided to jump on it. I am glad I did.It was an easy install if you are replacing a similar lock. It popped right in and after a simple walk through programming it was working. The lock it-self is really smooth in operation and turns flawlessly. (We use to fight the old one....) When the door closes it is locked behind you. (You can leave it unlocked, but have to use the key provided to put it in that mode.) It was very easy to program and you can even add other codes for visitors and change them once you don't want them to visit anymore. This way you don't have to remember a new code for regular users. So if the plumber is coming you can give him a code for the that day and deactivate it when you get home and not have to change everything. Kinda, cool when you think about it. We used this feature while we were away for our friend to come in to feed our cats.The kids love it, they don't have to worry about having their key with them all the time and then using our hidden key to only not put it back. How many time have you locked yourself out of the house and go to get the hidden key and it is not there? We don't have that problem now! Plus we don't have to worry about our kids losing their key or some bully taking it from them on the bus.For me, I run every morning and use to have to hide my key outside the house every day. Running with a key SUCKS! Now I just come home put the code in and I am in, no more sweaty fingers trying to turn a stiff key. Plus this one lights up on those early morning runs.I do not know how long the battery lasts and what is involved with changing it? It came with a 9v battery.The 2 best features are: I have a teenager and when he pisses my off I can change the code, haha! and after my wife telling me how much she did not want one, she loves it and how easy it is to use!

I needed to replace an older keypad lock on my storage shed. I wanted a high quality lock and this one delivered. Easy to install and works perfectly. I do however wish it had better lit buttons.

Best price from overall Schlage line up. Has Schlage's auto-lock feature which discourages users to override the lock, effectively leaving door openable for non residents. Incorporate time delay buzzer in the event door left ajar.

We needed a lock for a tack room in a small horse barn. Instead of giving out a half dozen keys, we assigned everyone the last 4 digits of their phone number. Nobody forgets their code, we don’t have to waste $$ getting keys cut all the time.The lock looks good and has worked well for the last few months. Was easy to install, too.
