Neat idea. Sturdy lock. Two drawbacks mentioned.
This is a great idea and the lock and keys look quite sturdy. I would recommend it. The lights are bright enough and are very easy to use. The rear red light also has several flashing patterns to choose from. There are two drawbacks I would like to mention as well.- This lock is pretty small so that it can't get along with the bike racks at my school, which I think are of normal sizes. I can only use it to lock up my bike's back wheel and frame together.- The set that I got has a little defect so that the rear light part will not smoothly fit in its mount. Sometimes, it turns to be hard again to get it off.Otherwise, this is a great product and I wish it'll become even better in future.

Good concept with major engineering challenges
Brilliant idea but still needs some work.I'm not satisfied with the mount for the rear light. One of the issues I've run into is that no matter how much you tighten the mount, the light will still swing around on the seat post. This gets annoying when you're biking down the road, hit a bump, and your own taillight hits you in the back of the leg. I've tried to remedy this by stuffing additional non-slip material between the mount and the seat post, but so far I still haven't been able to tighten it securely enough. I believe a big part of this is due to the leverage that having such a long tail light/U-lock puts on the mount. Any G-forces enacting on the arm of the light is very hard for the mount to balance out without being really REALLY tight. I would almost recommend engineering a type of mount that grips onto both the seat post and the end of the top tube in order to stabilize it better. Of course the engineering headache with that would be making an adjustable top tube grip that could work regardless of where the top tube is on a bike. The other problem comes when used as a U-lock. The lock itself is quite small compared to other traditional U-locks. The U itself is definitely not wide enough to grab both the seat tube of a bike and the rear tire, and in many cases is not long enough to lock the bike to larger security brackets. So we see where the problem with the concept is. To be a better bike lock, it would have to be bigger. But it's already too big to really be a good lighting system without butting more strain on the mounting hardware. I still think the solution to this for the next version of the product would be to develop a multi-point mounting option that could keep a larger lock more secure. But then of course even the headlight would need some kind of dual mount to deal with the increased size that would take up much more space over the handlebars. I don't think that would be too much of a problem as long as it was designed to cross over the center of the bars, but that would only work on flat handlebars without yet more adjustability like dual ball mount locks. I can picture how it would work though and it all seems doable without being too ridiculous.Again, brilliant concept! I want so bad to see something like this work to encourage having a method to secure the bike present at all times. This version is just not quite there yet.

Great idea, disappointing follow-through
When I first received this, I was disappointed, but it served my needs adequately. Barely 5 months later and the light portions are simply nonfunctional. The taillight may just have a bad battery. The headlight on the other hand is a disaster. First of all the mount is made up of two pieces, the mounting bracket that plugs into the light, and the mount with wraps around the bike. These two pieces are screwed together, and that screw comes loose, causing the headlight to flop around. And the screw is underneath the light so you have to remove it (with the key) in order to tighten the screw. It's not very convenient, so I end up letting it get pretty bad before I fix it. Also in this short amount of time the connection between the battery and the light has gone bad. The light flickers on and off (mostly off, momentarily being awoken from the dead by a sharp smack). On top of the original downfalls, I really regret buying this.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I read the reviews that said it was small, but I was still shocked at how narrow the U is. I guess that is so the headlamp doesn't get crazy long, I see no other real reason why it couldn't be wider. Living in Oakland, I have to use two U-locks anyway, so I only use this one to lock my front wheel to the frame; while relying on another lock to secure my bike to a rack. The lights are nice a bright. The headlight is front facing only, it doesn't have any light on the sides like some other headlamps do. The taillight does have side visibility though. One strange thing I noticed is that I can not pull the key out of the headlight without securing it to the U/taillight, or it's mounting bracket. Not really a bad thing, as I usually don't remove my key from the lock while locking and unlocking anyway. The headlight mounting bracket is ok, but (for me at least) the taillight mounting bracket is completely useless. Firstly, it is flimsy plastic (the headlight bracket is also plastic), such that the light flops around and I can actually pull the U out of the bracket without pressing the release button, totally insecure. Secondly, the angle and size does not fit on my bike, so even if it wasn't insecure, I wouldn't be able to use the bracket on my bike. Instead I have it clamped in to my spring loaded rear rack, this makes the position of the button for the taillight on the bottom of the light, less than ideal. This mounting itself is less than ideal, with the vibration from riding switching the button to turn the light off. All that said, this lock/light combo still does the job for me.

I really like this lock/light combo
I really like this lock/light combo. I bought this for $45 on amazon and was able to return my $25 light set. This has made it easy because I no longer have to carry my lights with me for fear of them being stolen... this locks the bike and the lights! Also, I am glad it comes with mounting hardware so the lock really is not a burden to carry (and it has lights for safety!). I am really impressed with this idea and I am happy with my purchase. However, the reason I give this 4 stars and not 5 stars...1. The lock is very narrow. Almost to the point I cannot find anywhere to lock my bike to without using a cable (and this defeats the purpose of a U-lock as a cable is easier to cut)2. The mounting brackets are extremely cheap and made of thin plastic. The headlight is somewhat heavy and it bounces around on the plastic mount quite a bit. I have to tighten the headlight about once a week or so.If the U-lock were slightly wider and had better quality mounts, this would easily be a 5 star product. I have used this for a few weeks and haven't worried about my bike being stolen.
