Q: How would this compare to a similarly priced instrument (specifically the commander version) such as the jean paul student saxophone,etc.

I don’t know how it compare to jean Paul, but don’t buy this brand. It is nothing like what the 5 stars reviews described, it is made out of very cheap material that the keys bent very easily. After carefully read the reviews, I believe those 5 stars reviews were provided by seller or not from the real consumers.
