Great shave + tip to sharpen old HQ8 heads
I've only used it today and it was the best shave I've had in quite some time. I will update my review if this razor doesn't live up to my expectations. Some people have suggested that this razor doesn't pick up every hair but I don't know if any electric razor does. I've never had any Philips Norelco that has! My hair grows quite thick and after I get done with a wet have, I do a light cleanup of the sideburns and those tricky areas like the neck and beneath the nose with an old fashioned safety razors like below. This keeps me from having to buy those expensive name brand shavers and blades. This is how I was able to use my previous Philips Norelco for 8 years! I don't know much better the 4500 series or the other expensive razors are but I think the 4100, 4200 (Target version), or similar are perfectly fine.Another benefit of this razor is that the HQ8 heads are reasonably priced and if you don't want to keep buying them, you can sharpen them on a mirror. Google this to find out in detail how this works but here is the gist: take a cheap mirror and put a little mineral/baby oil on it. Then take the blades out of the head (one at a time - remember, each head & blade is precision matched) and run them over the mirror in a figure "8" motion, ensuring that you sharpen them at various angles. Do this for 50-100 times for each set of blades. You'll be amazed that the results. This razor was good but the HQ9 blades were too expensive and I don't think the razor or the blades were too much better than the HQ8.

Great shaver, you'll be glad you bought it
This is a great shaver. I've been using a Norelco for about 2 decades & this is my 5th one. (One doesn't count because I gave up on it. It was GyroFlex 2D, where the entire head moves independently from the body. It gave a slow & terrible shave. The heads did not protrude through their holder as far as the one piece type & may be the reason. Nor could you just plug it in, it had a dedicated base that just took up room.) This shaver shaves fast & close. I use it dry & have no rash or complaints. Using 100% clear aloe gel as an aftershave works great & helps your skin at the same time; I usually wipe the residue off my hands by running them through my wet hair & it acts like a mild styling gel: it's great stuff. The head holds enough whiskers that it only needs to be emptied & cleaned when it's time to charge, usually about every 2 weeks as a rule w/ these shavers. Take it in the shower & rinse it off. (The one that doesn't count had to be emptied after each use.) As for the break-in period, turn it on & walk away from it after the 1st charge. Let it run until the battery runs out & then recharge it. This allows the cutters to run-in to their cups & the next time you use it, it's like you broke it in for a few weeks. This is as good as any of the ones that cost 2X as much. Highly recommended whether it's your 1st Norelco or your next one.

Great shaving performance and value!
I bought this a little over a year ago to replace an older Philips Norelco Shaver similar to this that I'd had for maybe 15 years. This model cost less than what I'd paid 15 years earlier. It does a great job very comparable to the one I owned for many years.About ready to replace the cutting heads for the first time because I notice it takes a little longer to shave each day since they are probably not as sharp as they were when new. If you've never used a shaver of this style before, I do recall that my face was sensitive and was a little sore for while when I started using my first shaver like this many years ago, especially if you are used to non-electric disposable blades. You have to give it maybe 2-3 weeks and let your skin adapt before you should make a final judgement on it. There are units out that cost more and may have more features, but this one is great value if you just want a good wet or dry shave and some simple indications on it for when to charge it again or when the charge is low. I can go perhaps three weeks between charges while using it daily, so I know that battery is holding out well after one year of use. The "replace cutting heads" indicator on it hasn't lit up yet prompting me to change the cutting heads, but I think I will anyway after one year. So I don't know yet if that feature works. I am very satisfied with this product.

Great, reliable shaver for a nice, affordable price!
I bought this razor to replace an older Norelco (Philips Norelco 8140XL SpeedXL Men's Shaver) I purchased several years ago. So far, I am quite pleased with the shave I am getting for my tough whiskers. This seems very maintainable and seems to hold a charge longer than my old shaver. It was also cheaper than what I paid several years ago for my older Norelco.I like how you can rinse this out under hot water to clean out the "after shave" residue. I like this kind of easy maintenance combined with the nice shave this gives. I looked at other shavers that were more expensive. Quite frankly, the prices were not justified for the "bells and whistles" on the more expensive. This shaver falls into a nice "mid-range" category with what I consider to be "all you really need for a nice shave" combined with nice battery life and maintenance features. It even comes with the ability to do a "wet" as well as a "dry" shave! My only complaint is the lack of a case for this shaver (like the one that came with my older Norelco). I think Norelco's just being cheap for not at least including some kind of case like they used to do. If it wasn't for this, I'd probably have given it five stars. Aside from that, this seems to be a solid, well-performing shaver with all you need.

Funciona Bien!
