Eagle 1610MB Blue High Density Polyethylene Lab Pack Drum with Metal Lever-lock Lid, 14 gallon Capacity, 26.5" Height, 15" Diameter

I bought the Oneida Molded DIY Dust Deputy Cyclone to collect the sawdust and shavings in my garage workshop and needed a drum to go with it. The Eagle 1610MB was the right size, capacity and price. It's pretty heavy duty and has no trouble coping with the vacuum produced by my shop vac.The top is sturdy and has a tapered edge shape that forms an excellent seal with the drum. The steel band will keep the top firmly in place, but for my use, I really don't need it because the negative pressure generated by my shop vac holds the top firmly in place. I did reinforce the underside of the top with a piece of 1/2" plywood, but that was more to stabilize the Dust Deputy than to add strength to the top.I used an old dolly and some scrap wood to build a frame-on-wheels to hold my shop vac and the drum and posted some photos of the results. The system works well and 95+% of the sawdust and shavings end up in the drum.

I bought this for use with a Dust Deputy because I kept turning my 5 gal buckets into raisins when the hose got blocked. This will also turn into a raisin if the vacuum gets blocked. Once it happens it will keep happening.I am making a wooden reinforcement ring to go in the stepped area to maintain the circular shape. The first one from 1/2" plywood got crushed on the third blockage. I am using this with a Festool vacuum. Other vacuums with less suction pressure may be OK but plan on doing some mods to this for Dust Deputy use.The drum is well made but I know there are people looking for dust collection drums for vacuum systems so I rated against my use for this.

 I purchased this drum to use as the reservoir for cyclonic dust collector I built. The extra volume of this drum has helped tremendously over using a 5 gallon bucket. The seal between the lid and the drum is very tight and the lever lock makes for easy removal of the lid. Could not go wrong with the price!

I used this for two different batches of primary wine fermentation so far and its been great. I had to make marks on the side for gallon reference. Very sturdy well made container. I would buy again if I ever need more.

In use with a Vortex Dust Deputy to filter most of the dust, pre-filter, before getting to a shop-vac. As I read so many great reviews of this particular Poly drum for this purpose, I took a chance. I think that the taller drum like this one is helpful, as others have said, you need to empty these when they are about half full, for best use with vortex vacuuming. I'm sure there are many uses for this, but my review is just for this purpose; was great for use while remodeling a kitchen. Love the ease of opening this lid. I've seen many youtube modifications to making carts for these, or just a rolling base. Very nice.

I bought this because I like to take advantage of home brewing deals. Frequently that means I end up with grain supplies that I need to keep fresh and away from critters that like sweet grain. After all can you blame them? This came in a box and I was initially concerned because the walls of the drum were pushed so close together as to nearly be touching. I thought this was a mistake until I realized that it's intended to flex in that manner and didn't harm the product in any way.I disconnected the lid without difficulty, separated the walls with my hands, and let the drum acclimate before it resumed a normal shape. Currently I have about 50lbs of sweet grain contained in the drum for use when my brew day arrives - hopefully sooner than later.The quality of the construction is really excellent. The ring around the lid is made of a really solid material and the poly lid secures with a satisfying suction as to convince me that the contents are air-tight. I'll be buying another one of these very soon as they hold a lot of contents and fit just about anywhere conveniently.

Ordered container for a clearing barrel for handguns. Solid construction. Very hard plastic body. The lid is very solid as well. Due to damage during shipping the lock that holds the handle was bent but I easily bent it back with my hand and have no problems. For those using it as part of a vacuum system there is what appears to be two prescored off sender circles 3" & 4" across. Lid is held to the container with a metal clamp like ring which is well made. Not flimsy.

Used this to build a sawdust container for my workshop vacuum system. Regular trash compactor bags fit perfectly inside, so when it's time to empty no mess ... plus, it seals around the top just right. The only negative issue with the barrel is the thin metal top. I had to re-enforce with 1/2" plywood to handle the connection pieces to my shop vac.
