High quality work boots
I bought these for my husband, he said they are amazing. He said the quality of the materials and construction is superior. I have purchased many work boots for him over the years and he said these are his favorite pair so far. He said one of the hardest things to deal with when purchasing new leather work boots is the break-in period, He said he did not have that problem with these boots. The leather is nice and soft and the wide width eliminates any hot spots. He said he walks three to five miles a day at work and usually by the end of the day his feet are hurting and sore, that is not the case with these boots. He said the top quality insoles and sturdy rubber soles absorb any vibrations before they reach his feet. Another note about the soles, they are very thick and not likely to wear down quickly. He said the eyelets are sturdy and well riveted so he does not see them pulling through the leather or opening up, even the boot strings are top notch, tightly woven and with a nice and thick plastic tip that will keep them from unraveling or pulling off at the end. He said this is a work boot that he can stand behind and said that anyone purchasing them would be as pleased as he is with them. I will purchase these work boots again in the future.

CAT Boots That Need Improvement
These seemed like an upgrade in design over the previous "waterproof" version that came out a few years ago, which were anything but. The tread base have been beefed up to match that of the standard Second Shift style boot so they won't wear down as quickly, they are pretty light for steel toed boots, and they look nice. However, the over all quality of the brand seems to have gone down. I ordered a wide width so that I'd have some extra room, but they're still pretty narrow. There is little to no arch support or padding or cushion of any kind in the heel and the thin material is already starting to wear through where your ankle rubs the boot. The internal stitching near where the last eyelet is on the side wasn't finished very well on the pair that I received. It was like an unfinished edge on the inside of the boot that has rubbed my smallest toe raw to the point of blisters. I now wear thicker socks to try to protect myself from this flaw. I put a pair of Dr. Scholl's gel inserts in them, but it doesn't seem to do very much to the over all comfort level. For a $100+ boot, I expected more.

Very comfortable
I recently got a job that required being on ones feet from 8 to 10 hrs a shift. That was complicated by neuropathy and reduced circulation in my feet. Those that suffer from diabetes understand my concerns. I needed a work boot that would comfortably cushion my feet on the job. I had great luck with Caterpillar Shelks so I turned to Caterpillar again. The reviews on the Hydraulic seemed hopeful. I take an 11 medium and these boots fit very well. I have never liked steel toed boots but these steel toes do not interfere in the toe box. The toe box is actually roomy. The boot is generally roomy overall with no hot spots, no tight areas. There is no break in to speak of. I wore them to work that day with no issues. They are my "go to" boots now for work or hiking/walking. As always, premium socks or socks for those with diabetic issues are highly recomended.

Poor quality of workmanship. It pulls a good name down with the company subcontracted to manufacture these!
I gave up on ultra-lite composite toe boots because I found them to break down in a year and need a replacement. I found these comfortable, and very good for working on concrete for 10 hrs a day. What I didn't like is now, after 4 months, 2 of the eyelets for the boot have ripped out, and now I have had to cobble up something to make them usable and lace up. Very disappointed in quality for such a short period of time, and these are over $100 work boots. No rubbing of safety toe, but they do feel heavy. The leather on the toe is tearing and fraying from rubbing, or hitting something as I work around metals, machines, and foot pedals.

Not too bad.
I really like the boots, the toes are wearing away rather quickly though. As a welder, I love having steel toe boots because getting sparks in your socks sucks! Just a little disappointed in how fast the toe portion of the boot is wearing away.Update: after having them for four months, they are getting torn apart. The leather on the front is badly worn and one of the rivets for the laces has popped out. They have saved my toes many times, just surprised at how fast the are getting worn down. I work in a steel shop as a welder and have had other boots last me about two years before I had to buy more. These boots are wearing out a lot faster than any other pair I've owned. I like them, but I'm not buying them a second time.

Boots outlasted the laces; most comfortable footwear I've ever owned.
I RARELY take the time to review products, but after nearly 2 years I felt compelled to report on this item. I'm just now ordering my second time after two full years of rough use. I'm 6'2" and nearly 300 pounds - not fat but definitely a full grown man. The heal has never mashed down, the sides have never blown out, and they have remained the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever owned. Honestly, I've NEVER had to replace the laces on shoes or boots before, but I eventually added some of those $10 kevlar laces with the lifetime warranty to these boots. I can't recall the brand but I got them here on Amazon. These boots are the best.

Very comfortable and light
I've worn Cat work boots for years, usually the "alaska" model. I've gotten good life out of them for a reasonable price. There are boots out there that are way more expensive, but I'm pretty hard on footwear, and the Cat boots seem to give me the best balance of price vs. longevity. I just received this model and have only worn them for a week, but so far, they are very comfortable and light. I can't even feel the weight of the steel toe. I have high arches, and so far, I don't have support issues. These boots don't come up past the ankle as much as other boots I have worn, so I'm still getting used to that. That would be my only issue is that I wish they were a little higher on the ankle, but not a huge deal. To date, I'm very impressed.
