I recently built a new workbench for my garage "workshop" and I wanted a good woodworker's vise that wasn't going to break the bank. This one fit the bill perfectly. I like this particular style with the larger metal clamping faces since they're less prone to 'racking' when clamping stock along the right or left side of the vise.The operation is very smooth and it holds material nice and firm.Bear in mind there's no instructions but it's a vise not an Ikea chest-of-drawers, and it doesn't come with any mounting hardware like bolts or screws. However, installation was very straight forward. I used two 3" bolts and two 2.5" wood screws and it's solid. Then I attached a piece of 3/4" scrap to each face. EZPZ.

I built a workbench frame with planed 2x4's doubled up, added a 3/4 ply top, and then added this inexpensive vise to mount to the side of the workbench frame. It is simple and solid, and durable. It is also heavy. With no manual suggesting how to best mount it, I used the holes with countersinks on the vertical portion of the L-shaped vice mount to pass some beefy bolts through both 2x4's to the other side. I also drilled two more holes in that same vertical face to accommodate two more bolts further up. The drilling was easy. I used 9/32" bolts and ran them through. I fashioned a spare 2x6 into a couple of 16" long faces, planed them and routed holes to accommodate the bolt heads I added, and the whole thing was really strong. If you're willing to do just a little drilling, this is a great product for the money. The size is perfect to accommodate my 16" wide wood faces. I had a good experience with this product.

Woodworking is a hobby for me, not my livelihood but I always wanted a woodworker’s vice. This one is exactly what I was looking for. It's very well made and the price is very reasonable. Regarding the reviews; mine arrived the next day, not 3 weeks later as the only 2-star complaint stated. That was probably a shipping issue and not the seller’s fault. I also saw complaints stating it doesn't come with instructions. While that is true, mounting it to a work bench is pretty straight forward. If you want the top of the clamp to be the same height as your work bench, you'll need to shim for that, but it’s no big deal. I added a 3/4-inch piece of scrap oak to my 1-1/2 in thick bench to bring the total thickness to 2-1/4 in. but I still had to add about 1/16 in of shim stock to get it perfect. I also saw someone say the dog doesn't stay in place. That's not true, its spring loaded and will stay at any height you raise it to. Another complaint was the guide bars are crooked. Mine are perfectly parallel and aligned, the vice opens and closes very easily. And another complaint which is sort of valid is that the 2 center holes on the back plate are 6mm metric, not 10/24 as they look. But you really don’t need to use these holes to attach a board to the back plate. I used the 2 outer holes and simply ran a 2-1/2 in deck screw through the oak board and through back plate into my bench. I also used 2-1/2 in wood deck screws with washers to attach the vice to my bench on the bottom side. I used #10x3/4 sheet metal screws to attach the front oak board to the front plate. One last thing worth mentioning is that I also notched out my work bench so the back plate of the vice is recessed into the bench 1/2 in and the back board is up against the bench. That was the hardest part of attaching the vice but was simply a personal preference. I could have simply attached 1/2 in boards to the bench to fill in the gap between the backer board and the bench on the right and left side of the back plate. All in all, I’m very satisfied with the quality of the vice and would certainly recommend it to anyone with the slightest assembly skills. If it isn’t apparent how to attach it to a bench without instructions you probably don’t need it. By the way, this is the first item I ever bought from Amazon that doesn't have several 1 star complaints.

Really solid well made clamp - very heavy. Turns smooth and even. Definitely apply some good quality grease and this thing will last forever. Can’t wait to install in my workbench. Great price - I don’t know why other brands need to cost so much more.

Solid vise. Makes my work easier.

I really want to give it 3 stars, because it is in fact very average... But I give one more because of price.Once mounted and given some 'cheeks' of wood on its jaws, its perfectly capable and probably more than enough for any hobbiest making small projects. If you're working with heavy pieces, it will not be what you're after. It is light, it is a little clanky, but over all it does what it is intended to do.As long as you understand that you're buying a minimal solution, and not a 'serious' woodworking vise, you probably will not be disappointed. You also will not be blown away. It is right in the middle, and thats why I wanted to give it 3 stars. But again, the price is a bonus.

A decent vise that works well. Is mounted the way pretty much every other vise is mounted to a workbench, you will have to pad it out underneath with a piece of scrap or cut a rebate to fit it depending on how thick your workbench top is. I put some scrap half inch oak jaws on it and that works well. I have had 7ft 4" x 2" and 4" x 4" in it with no problems. A side bench dog as support would likely be helpful if working on longer pieces. The screw is smooth and while there is a little slop it doesn't affect the vise in how it works. One tip though, I mount my vises a hair or two below the surface of my workbench in case I secure a piece too low and drive a plane blade into the metal top of the vise, ask me how I know!

This is the best wood vice, I recommend it.

Excelente morsa para marcenaria, principalmente a lingueta que tem função específica. Recomendo
