I don't get the hate for this keyboard. It isn't perfect but it's very useful
The bad.The layout is slightly different to the official Google keyboard or a Pixelbook keyboard. The enter key is short with a #~ key above it. If you are used to Google keyboards you are going to hit the wrong key.The clips to attach the keyboard are like giant rubberised paper clips. If you bend them closer and push the slate in they are going to put pressure on the screen and cause bleed. If you bend them the other way the slate can slide out. The window for perfect fit is small. It doesn't use the Slates special connector to charge. It can charge via the Slate or plugged in.It is missing the pipe key. The easiest way to get a pipe is to add a US keyboard layout as a second layout. You can then use "ctrl + space" to switch to US and back. Press "shift + #" to get a | when in the US layout. The Good.If you press right alt and a key with a third character on it you will get the third character. ¦€\The trackpad and keys all work well. As far as I know this is the only way the device can work like a Pixelbook on your lap.It matches the Slate completely.

Takes the Slate to the next level
What I like:- Great build quality and it completely matches up with the Slate design. It's actually a gorgeous design.- it's responsive no lag whatsoever.- very comfortable to type on - keys have excellent travel, 3 different settings for the backlighting and the keyboard raises slightly when you open it up.- the track pad is very responsive, gestures register as expected and it's glass. Although it's not as good as the trackpad on the folio case.- compared to the folio case, this makes it feel like a complete laptop - it's comfortable to use anywhere!- great viewing/typing anglesThings I'm not too fond of:- the pressure on the bottom corners of the screen. I know brydge have tested this with 2000 opens and closes with no damage, and noone has reported damage yet, but I try to move the hinges from the bottom first just to be safe. All in all - it was actually worth the price. I'd recommend it!

First Impressions Review
UPDATE - 11.11.20I noticed the backlit keys were working intermittently and the occasional key presses didn't register. What I discovered was that these issues are an early indication that the keyboard needs charging . Switching off the backlight extends battery life quite a lot. Battery life in normal operation seems to be around a week or so. Interesting, as my Logitech Bluetooth keyboard that uses disposable batteries lasts months!UPDATE - 06.11.20Has anyone noticed if this keyboard drains the Slate battery more quickly?I only received this today so I will one back and update as and when necessary. Initial impressions are always important though.First of all, the build quality seems to be very good. typing is really nice as there's a satisfying click to the keys. Not as quiet as the (much more expensive) other Pixel keyboard but certainly more solid and stable. Quite heavy too although the Slate isn't that light either.Slipping the Slate into the holding hinges was smooth and the hinges feel really solid when tilting the screen.Bluetooth set up was easy and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. You may need a magnifying glass though! The track pad is very responsive but not over much which is good news. Although the instructions don't mention it, at all for some reason, it does have the expected clicking and gesturing areas. All the Google function keys are there although, as others have noticed, there's no 'pipe' key. Three is a way to get at that but I've never needed one and I can just use the cap I key instead. The backlit keys do go off but I noticed this only happens when the Slate goes into sleep mode or you shut the lid. The Bluetooth connection, similarly, switches off but just takes a few seconds to re-set.I know some have said the USB C to C lead has no block or plug. However, I just connected it to my phone. Then I realised that the Slate's charging cable is type C anyway! If the Brydge is anything like my Logitech Bluetooth keyboard, the battery will probably last months. However, as I sit here typing this, the keyboard is on charge using my (very long) Slate lead.So there you go. My initial impressions are good. This seems to be a well made keyboard and a perfect partner for my excellent Slate.Whether, as others have noted, the hinges will squeeze/scratch the Slate screen, or the rubber pads fall off the base, or screws fall out etc etc remains to be seen. And it certainly doesn't scratch table tops!I'll give it a few weeks and come back with an update. In the meantime, and especially if you can buy at a big discount as I did, I'm sure you'll enjoy using it.

Very well built and a very good keyboard
I have been having lots of issues with bluetooth devices sleeping on my Google Pixel Slate, especially keyboards. I had hoped that this would be solved by the Brydge G-Type, but it still occurs. But I like the keyboard alot and use it all the time now. Very solid and well built the keys are good and it has the chromebook layout. Happy with the keyboard but still frustrated by the sleep issues on the Bluetooth connection to the Slate, (But still love the slate overall).

A bag of spanners
A real lack of attention to detail and lack of respect for the UK market with a Frankenstein development. Want to use the pipe symbol? There's a handy 7 key shortcut for that!Additional features:Want to scratch the life out of a wooden table? We got you covered!Fancy a charging slot in about the most awkward place possible? Well we've thought of that too.If you can get this super cheap on offer then It'd be a handy back up as the build quality is pretty good overall, though the underside feels plasticky. Definitely not worth more than £50. Would make me think twice about ever buying another Brydge product, which is a shame as I had my eye on a few pieces in their range.UPDATE:I've also noticed after a few days of usage that the spacebar only registers when you hit it dead centre, and the backlight goes on and off at will. This keyboard is an actual piece of garbage.

Excellent keyboard but missing delete key.
Well built. Great travel distance.

Expensive, but at least available
Hard to find in the US, so premium was worth it.
