doesn't perform as advertised
I purchased this wet grinder in 2020 aand it has never worked well for me. I don't care about the plastic base but wonder why the on/off switch is in rear when being used as shown in the owner's manual with thr grinding wheel on the right. I found the accessory kit difficult to use even when looking at the manual. The knife sharpener jig is very difficult to set up for an even edge if you can get an edge on a kitchen knife at all. But my main issue is with excessive wheel wobble. I found that unaceptable. I can not recomend this wet grinder.

It does sharpen well.
But the grinding wheel wobbles verticaly and the honing leather wobbels from side to side. Poorly made! Shoddy construction, won,t buy another grizzly

I'm going to have to replace the stone
Like most of the other reviews I've read the stone for mine is badly damaged. I will have to replace it. I just don't think its worth shipping back and getting another one from all the reviews I've read. Seems like every one of them the stone is damaged.Grizzly needs to come up with a better way to package these.5-7-2014

Works great if a bit messy
Works great if a bit messy. The stone is very coarse so it does not work well putting on a fine edge. Works great for grinding down the factory edge on kitchen knives, pocket knives, chisels, etc. If you are looking for a really fine edge though I recommend finishing off with a regular finer grit hand stone then use the attached buffer. Really like the edge I can put on my saddle axe with this. CAUTION: Really takes the blade down quick so pay attention and don't over do it. :)

Just a plane bad experience
I received this item from Grizzly direct going on 2 months now. I have not been able to use it and here is why. Was surprised to find out this is a plastic case, thought it might have been metal. The main grinding stone was chipped on the outer edge, asked for a replacement, it was sent. That wheel does not run true and needs to be ground down to make full contact around the complete turn. The grinder has a wobble on the Stropping wheel side, that has been on order since the beginning and they have no estimate when that might be sent. Grizzly tech service says that the wheel is cheap plastic and was probably pulled out of the mold when it was too hot and the shaft hole may or may not be 90 degrees with the wheel itself, hence the wobble. The machine makes a thump once per revolution, and upon investigation, found the main drive wheel to be out of round causing the motor shaft to vary by about 1/4", thus thump, thump thump once per revolution. That also has been on order and no known delivery date for that item. The water tray does not hook on very well to the plastic housing, and with just a slight accidental tap will fall off. The extra sharpening tool kit has been on order since the beginning and with no estimated delivery date. Disappointed with Grizzly, you bet, return for more items, probably not. This is a $100 tool, guess you get what you pay for?? I keep getting post cards advising me of the delay(s) and asked if I wanted to cancel my items....They are replacement warranty items??

Like someone said already
I want to give this product 5 stars because it serve my purpose, It is much easier than using a flat stone and I can keep my chisels sharp faster and square. Like someone said already, it is not the most expensive product in the market, but it is affordable for me. I do not care much for the case been plastic, The case does nothing in the sharpening process.

It is what it is.
This is not a Tormek. At one third to one quarter the price of a similar featured Tormek T-3 , one cannot expect this to perform like the T-3. The question is: does this work reasonably well for the price? It does for me.I bought mine direct from Grizzly along with a Grizzly T10024 Accessory Kit . Both arrived well packed and complete. Yes, this has a plastic case but so does the Tormek. If you want metal, go with the larger Grizzly T10010 or the wallet draining Tormek T-7 . I am a hobbyist woodturner with low sharpening requirements. It would not make sense spending stacks of money to sharpen modest tools, although I do have a nice Sheffield steel turning set. Still, I paid $100 for it so anything more than this Grizzly would not be cost effective.I have come to appreciate that this unit is capable of putting a perfectly fine edge on just about any cutting tool. It is more in the user's skill and knowledge than the sharpening system. I have found The Complete Guide to Sharpening very helpful in acquiring the knowledge to sharpen a variety of tools. Another excellent resource is Tormek TNT-300 Woodturner's Instruction Box . For me, it is the one Tormek product that is worth splurging for. Otherwise I think Grizzly's offerings are sufficient unless sharpening tools is your hobby or profession.Others here and elsewhere have commented on wheel wobble. Mine is no different but I can deal with it. On the stone, a dresser is used to level the stone with the tool rest. On the leather wheel, I am unconcerned about a slight eccentricity. It's not as if I'm going to over-strop an edge. Grizzly does mention wobble in a note about the leather wheel and says it is normal. It would be nice to have truer wheels but not for three times the price.Could a Tormek do a better or faster job? Maybe or maybe not. I am satisfied with this unit and have no need to invest in a full-blown Tormek with its pricey jigs. I am more interested in using properly sharpened tools than actually sharpening tools. I like this grinder/sharpener and would buy it again.
