I needed to replace the motherboard on an existing HP machine so I ordered the 537376-001 HP Compaq Motherboard Elite E9000...as an exact replacement for the board that had failed. The first board was DOA. No on board video when powered up. Returned the board and was shipped a replacement very quickly. Unfortunately the second board was also DOA. No on board video when powered up. Just to be sure it was the board and not something I had done I took the components (CPU, RAM, HD & PSU) from a twin machine that works fine and populated the MOBO with them. Same issue, No Video. Then I took the components from the machine I had purchased the MOBO for and placed them on the board of the machine that was working fine and the machine booted just fine. Having tested the replacement board with 2 of each components (CPU, RAM, HD & PSU) I can be sure the replacement MOBO was DOA just like the first one. I believe the is a bad batch of 785 chipsets on a number of these MOBOs so getting a working replacement board is a hit and miss proposition. I have decided to go to an ASUS board as a replacement for the machine. I have done this twice before and they work great.
