The LifeStraw Go Water Bottle has been updated with 2-stage filtration to improve the taste of your water and provide even better protection. In addition to the award-winning LifeStraw hollow fiber membrane filter that eliminates bacteria and protozoa, the next-generation Go Bottle incorporates a carbon capsule that reduces bad taste, odor, chlorine and organic chemical matter. The LifeStraw Go Bottle combines these technologies into a convenient, reusable sports bottle. Take the LifeStraw Go when you go hiking, camping, or traveling to areas with poor water quality. Simply scoop water from any pond, stream or river and filter as you drink. The LifeStraw Go filters water down to 0.2 microns and has been rigorously tested to surpass EPA standards for removing E. Coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium oocysts, and many other waterborne contaminants. When the filter has reached capacity (1,000 liters / 264 gallons) it will stop taking in water. The activated carbon capsule will be effective for up to 100 liters (26 gallons), or the equivalent of 3 months of continuous use. Replacement filters are available for sale separately. Made of BPA-free Tritan, the LifeStraw Go bottle is extremely durable. The food-grade silicone mouthpiece is flexible which prevents it from chipping or cracking, and is removable for easy cleaning. Use the carabiner to attach to your backpack, or store in your preparedness kit to ensure access to safe, clean drinking water in an emergency. Capacity 23 ounces. Bottle capacity 23 ounces. Dimensions 9 x 3 inches. Weight 7.8 ounces. SOS kit comes with Multi-function pocket knife, fire starter, emergency whistle, mini compass, multi-functional lifesaving card, and wire saw.

LifeStraw Go Water Bottle-Recommended for Hiking/Backpacking or Just Being Prepared!
I purchased this to keep in my vehicle emergency kit. I am familiar with the traditional LifeStraw survival filter, which I carry in my everyday carry bag. This particular offering of the LifeStraw Go bottle is shipped with a "free" survival kit. This review will focus on the LifeStraw Go Water Bottle, though I will touch on the survival kit at the end.The seller shipped the water bottle quickly and I received it about two days after ordering, with free Amazon Prime shipping. I was packaged in original retail packaging and appeared unopened. The water bottle is made of dishwasher safe plastic, but does not seem to have the same durability as you would find in a Nalgene bottle. It is labeled BPA free, however. The mouthpiece was sealed with plastic and flips up fairly easily. It also includes a strap/ring with a decent carabiner (non-climbing) to attach to a pack or belt. I tested the water bottle for operation, but did not test it on contaminated water. Specifications state that it will filter out 99.9999999 percent of most harmful bacteria, and let's face it... Using most filter systems is somewhat a leap of faith that they are going to work properly at the time they are needed. It is always advisable to find the cleanest water source, preferably flowing, even when using filters or purification tablets. I have seen people use LifeStraw products to drink some pretty nasty liquids on YouTube, though. That being said, I followed the instructions and took 5 quick sips through the straw, at which time water started flowing. There was a slight plastic taste to the water, but nothing unbearable. As an avid hiker and backpacker, I appreciate the ability to dip the water bottle into a water source and have drinkable water, without having to use my pump-style filter. I also wish I would have had this during my excursions in South America, where water quality is questionable. While I do not think the bottle portion of this is as durable as popular water bottles out there, I think it will work if you avoid repeated drops onto hard surfaces. I have no reason to doubt the efficacy of the filter, and it will be a welcome addition to my vehicle survival kit. I would recommend this product to any outdoor enthusiast.Speaking of survival kits: The seller included a "free" survival kit with the bottle. I say "free" because the seller was offering the bottle for about $9.00 more than another merchant on Amazon. The kit is not of exceptional quality, but I guess I would say it was worth the $9.00 extra dollars of the price. It included a small multitool, a credit card tool, a button compass, a wire saw, and a whistle. None of these items were of top shelf quality, but they may come in handy. The instructions with the credit card tool were completely in Chinese. For me, the most useful item in the kit was the metal box. I did not buy the bottle for the survival kit, so I did not base my rating on those factors. It should be noted that I received this item at a discount for my fair and honest review. I received no direct compensation for my endorsement. I appreciate honest reviews by Amazon users, and in turn offer my true opinion. Please rate as helpful if you have found this review beneficial, and feel free to comment.

Better safe than sorry!
Gave this as a gift to my brother before he went backpacking in Central America and he loved it! The little SOS kit was a nice touch, and we had a good time going through all the things they somehow fit in there.I haven't personally drank from this bottle, but I can tell you that these kind of water filters are priceless when you're somewhere with less-than-perfect water. I went on a work trip with one like this, and the people with me mocked me for filtering my already filtered water again. Well you know what? I was the only one on the trip who didn't get sick! You can never be too safe.

Business traveler's friend, great for questionable hotel water.
As advertised, I got this to travel outside the US. It is great for hotel stays where the water is questionable.

Life finds a way
Edit** After visiting the ER I realized my sickness ended up being caused by several different types of virus in the water I drank. Due to this finding, I'm going to give the Lifestraw 4 stars because it was MY error not understanding that this product does not and will not filter out any virus in the water.I absolutely love this product and the idea behind it. I purchased the lifestraw for my first trip to Mexico since everybody was telling me not to drink the water over there. I mainly filled it with tap water from the hotel bathroom and didn't experience any problems whatsoever throughout my 5 day stay at the hotel. However, drinking tap water from a 5 star all inclusive resort wasn't enough for me to be convinced.. Upon entering the airport bathroom in Mexico I noticed a sign on the mirror that stated the water was undrinkable and highly advised against doing so and I thought this was a perfect opportunity to see what the LifeStraw could do. 24 hours later after returning home I had a mild case of diarrhea the next few times I used the bathroom. I'm unsure whether it was the water itself or the burrito I had at the airport but I'm pretty sure it was the water so for that I'm giving it a 3 out of 5. It still is a great product and I'm still getting used to it but I would just remember to change the filters according to how much it's used.
